Commercial Summer Internship Programme
We’re proud of the products and services we develop. We’re equally as proud of the way we do business with the organisations that contribute to or invest in those products and services. And it’s our Commercial team that makes the difference. On our Commercial Summer Internship, you’ll be working with our customers, partners and suppliers worldwide to shape the way we do business. You could help us to minimise risk and maximise profit, taking on real projects with real outcomes. It’s a great way to get an insight into Rolls-Royce, the role of Commercial and what it takes to do well here.
The programme
Over the 10 weeks you spend with us, you’ll take on real-life assignments. The programme is designed to help you develop core business skills and give you a detailed insight into how a large, complex company makes a profit and works with customers, suppliers and partners. You’ll be well-supported and, because our focus will be on your personal development, this programme will be the perfect platform from which to build a career in the world of contract and commercial management. Many of our summer interns go on to join our graduate programme, so this could be a fantastic start to a rewarding career with one of the world’s most prestigious companies.
What you’ll do
This is an unrivalled opportunity for you to hone your commercial skills on live projects. You’ll be immersed in diverse business issues as you get involved in negotiating or drafting high value contracts, identifying risks, taking on bidding and business cases, and developing innovative and creative commercial solutions. You could be supporting internal engineering teams, navigating through complex intellectual property issues, handling financial modelling and pricing, or managing key strategic suppliers. Working face-to-face with exceptionally diverse customers, partners and suppliers across the world, you’ll develop your expertise through on-the-job learning and first-class formal training.
What you’ll need
We’re looking for results-driven and detail-orientated individuals with an innate talent for business – you’re ambitious, full of integrity and never afraid to make big decisions. We want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. You should also be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 degree. Flexibility is important too as you could be based at any of our UK sites. Ambitious and driven, you’ll be excited about the fact that this internship could lead to a place on our graduate programme.

- The chance to join our graduate programme if you perform well
- Leisure facilities, clubs, societies and social activities
