About EDF Energy

EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group and is one of the largest energy companies in Europe. In the UK we have approximately 15,000 employees. We are the UK’s leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation’s electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We intend to play a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK and secure a ‘bright’ future for the combined business and its employees.

Supply Chain Industrial Placement

A wide range of suppliers provide works, goods and services to support the operation of our nuclear business. How do we select and develop them to ensure everyone benefits fairly from our contracts? That’s the job of our Supply Chain teams.

This is a unique chance to divide your year between two of those teams – Procurement & Commercial and Operations & Governance. The experience will give you a broad look of the work done by Supply Chain in a large, complex organisation like ours. For an idea of the type of work you could do, previous students have helped organise a Supplier Diversity & Sustainability conference and supported project teams placing low-value contracts as well as spending a month located at one of our nuclear stations working alongside the station supply chain teams. You’ll also get the opportunity to travel to suppliers’ offices and our stations in order to support our key stakeholders and internal customers.

By the end of the year, you should know for sure whether this is the company you want to build your career in. If it is, you’ll soon have the chance to apply for a place on an EDF Energy Graduate Programme.

Your time with us won’t just be professionally rewarding. Because you’re making a real contribution to our business, you’ll be paid a salary of £16,500 for the year, with generous holiday allowance plus product and service discounts.

About You

  • Working towards a Business Studies, Business Management or Economics related degree
  • You’ll have the professional outlook and commercial awareness to make the most of your time here
  • Self-motivated, analytical and cool under pressure, you’ll combine technical knowledge (specifically MS Office) with great all-round people skills
  • Desire to learn and develop your skills
  • Willingness to relocate as required

Our Recruitment Process

To apply for an Industrial Placement, start by completing our online application. If we like the look of your application, we’ll ask you to complete an online situational strengths test, followed by an online numerical reasoning test.  Get through the online stages and you’ll have the chance to tell us more about yourself during a telephone interview. You’ll then be invited to a face to face interview, where you can demonstrate your capability and technical knowledge, as well as learning more about us, our culture and our people.  If everything goes well through these stages, we’ll make you an offer as soon as possible. If you accept, you can look forward to the start of a very exciting and rewarding career with EDF Energy.
