Nuclear Science & Engineering Industrial Placement

From working on radiological protection to maintaining the computer systems that run our nuclear power stations, designing electrical systems to improving safety or operations, we offer a diverse and fascinating range of 12 month Science and Engineering industrial placements.

Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

Most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. Some industrial placements come with opportunities for further technical training as needed.

Your placement will be based at one of our Nuclear Power Stations or one of our offices across the UK.

Your time with us won’t just be professionally rewarding. Because you’re making a real contribution to our business, you’ll be paid a salary of £16,500 for the year, with generous holiday allowance plus product and service discounts.

  • Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station, Suffolk
  • Torness Nuclear Power Station, East Lothian
  • Dungeness B Nuclear Power Station, Kent
  • Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station, Teesside
  • Heysham Power Station, Lancashire
  • Hinkley Point B, Somerset
  • Barnwood Office, Gloucester
  • East Kilbride Office, South Lanarkshire

About You

You'll be studying for an engineering or science degree relevant to your chosen industrial placement. You’ll also be on track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification.

Successful candidates will have good communication skills, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. They will have an ability to interact within a team environment, display professionalism within a work setting and have both a questioning and challenging attitude. Of key importance is a willingness to get involved with various tasks, and provide support as required.

About our Recruitment Process

Get through the online stages and you’ll have the chance to tell us more about yourself during a short telephone interview. You’ll then be invited to a face to face interview, where you can demonstrate your capability and technical knowledge, as well as learning more about us, our culture and our people.
