Power Trading Internship
Department information
The Power Trading department is responsible for optimising group assets, hedging and taking speculative risk on the power market. The desk trades both short and long term power for the UK and Continental markets, managing cross-border interconnector capacities as well as intraday and day-ahead optimisation activities for the EDF Group in the wholesale electricity market.
Main responsibilities
You will gain exposure to the day to day activities of our power desk by providing support to the traders as needed, predominantly by maintaining and developing models and tools. Your main tasks may include tool and model building; model maintenance as required; validation and back testing of models; and collecting data which are relevant to the European electricity markets. You will be able to work with various stakeholders including members of the power analysis team, IT and trading desks as appropriate.
Experience required
Working towards an analytically based discipline; degree in risk management, maths, engineering or finance. Ideally, you will also be proficient in VBA and Matlab.
