Quality Assurance Placement

We are looking for a student to join Siemens Rail Systems Quality Assurance department on a 12 month Internship. Siemens Rail Systems provides expertise and technology for a full range of rail vehicles; from heavy rail to metros to trams and light-rail vehicles. In the UK, Siemens maintains passenger trains and provides technical support to various operators including First TransPennine Express, South West Trains, Northern Rail, London Midland, Scotrail, Eurostar and Thameslink. The Quality Assurance function provides key support to the business across a range of quality related areas including the provision of key process development, internal and external auditing, supply chain & internal project quality planning and management.

What are my responsibilities?

The role will be within the Quality Assurance team and after a period of training and induction responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the quality manager in project (QMiP) role
  • Working with engineering and procurement to ensure that critical sub-contracted components are delivered in accordance with rigorous quality requirements
  • Undertake quality investigations
  • Pro-actively identify and drive quality improvement through process development and improvement, and other quality methodology
  • Undertake internal and external audits, and support the business in actioning improvements based on findings

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • You must be studying a degree in a Quality Management / Quality related discipline (other disciplines can be considered)
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and software
  • Good communication skills
  • Good planning/organisational skills

What else do I need to know?

This role will involve a large focus on quality and safety and a key aspect of the work will be to ensure products or projects are delivered in accordance with all applicable internal and external standards and customer and project requirements. This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, starting in Summer 2017.
