IT Project Management

Travelport is currently looking for an intern with a passion for IT and databases to get involved with various database and system projects throughout a 12-13 month placement commencing summer 2017, the results of which will influence our future strategy for rail travel. It is a great opportunity that will help you to build on your IT project management, Excel scripting, and Quality Assurance skills, as well as develop business awareness in an international travel technology company.

From day one as an intern, you will be given real responsibility, with your work directly impacting Travelport’s success. As a valued member of our team, you will work alongside experienced professionals on a variety of activities to help deliver against key department initiatives and strategic projects.

What might your role involve?

  • Undertaking software development tasks and help us to build a unique Worldwide rail e-commerce platform  
  • Perform testing/quality assurance (QA) and ensure our software meets our exact acceptance criteria.
  • Be part of a fast growing Worldwide team who are operating in a highly agile environment
  • Managing and updating Travelport’s rail database for travel agents, which holds 90,000 rail stations and needs data investigation and correction to ensure accuracy, helping you to build on your Excel scripting skills
  • Assisting the migration of travel agents from legacy systems to a new software booking platform, which will provide you with project management experience
  • Other projects as required throughout the year

What is Travelport looking for?

IT Project Management Interns must have software development experience and be confident in the following:

  • Operating systems: Windows, Unix
  • Programming languages: Java and HTML
  • Databases: SQL

You must also have the following life skills:

  • Take your academic experience seriously – you should be tracking to a 2:1 or above.
  • Enjoy software development – you should be playing around with coding and have confidence in your abilities.
  • Able to be part of a Worldwide team. We have developers in India, the UK and Spain.
  • Have great attention to detail.
  • Be proactive and highly motivated
  • Be able to work on several projects in parallel
