Communications & Marketing

Communications & Marketing is a dynamic and creative function with a key role in implementing RBS’s wider strategy. From engaging colleagues and making sure they understand the bank’s direction, to communicating our results to the markets, and connecting with our customers, our impact should not be underestimated. And by telling the story of RBS, we play a huge part in protecting and improving our reputation. As an intern working in RBS you’ll enjoy responsibility and challenge.

What you can expect?

You’ll join a ten week internship placed in one of the Communications & Marketing teams. Your journey will be unique to you. You’ll have your own development plan, and you’ll pursue your own career passions. You’ll have the opportunity to see first hand how diverse our roles are. You might spend time in Brand & Marketing, or experience one of our busy Media Relations teams. It could be Sustainability, or Communications & Brand Development. Or, you might prefer an opportunity in Public & Consumer Affairs. Wherever your internship takes you, you’ll be contributing to key pieces of work. You’ll get a great insight into the function, and will broaden your skillset as much as your perspective.

Who we're looking for?

Are you passionate about branding and brand development? How about improving our customers’ experience? Or helping our colleagues to understand how they can make the bank’s vision a reality?

If you can answer yes to these questions; if you can inspire and motivate your co-workers and external partners; if you’re proactive, creative and a strategic thinker, this may be the perfect place for you.

We welcome applications from all degree subjects. Disciplines like Marketing, Business, Social Sciences and Languages would be particularly applicable in the Communications & Marketing function.

You do not need any specific UCAS points.

Development and support opportunities

If you share our determination and passion, and show us what you can do, you may be given the chance to join our graduate scheme the following year. From there, you could find yourself masterminding our latest TV advertising campaign, or handling internal communications which articulate progress against the bank’s long-term plan. Perhaps you’ll be briefing the national media on annual results day, or setting our social media strategy. Whatever route your passion takes you towards, the technical, business and soft skills you develop with us will give you a platform to build your career well beyond the end of the programme.
