Commercial Placement Scheme

During your time on our award-winning Placement Scheme, you will assume a Product or Trading Assistant role in either the Commercial or Cruise Divisions. Whilst on the scheme, you will manage a portfolio of destinations within the Thomson/ First Choice or Thomson Cruises programme where you will gain valuable professional skills which really matter in a high performance company. From day one you will be making important Commercial decisions which will help to drive forward the strategy and profitability of the UK business.

Initially, you'll apply for a single role (Commercial Assistant) and we'll then use our Assessment Centre and your preferences to work out which role and team would suit you best. All roles are well positioned to gain full insight into the Commercial functions of a Tour Operator.

eCommerce Placement Scheme

We also have one slightly different placement position available in our eCommerce department within the Sales and Merchandising Team. Every day will be different as a merchandising executive working within the world of merchandising, marketing and digital. You will be supporting the merchandising activity across the Thomson and First Choice websites, two of the leading travel agency websites in the U.K. You will work with people across the business giving you a broad and in-depth understanding of the whole company. Whilst also taking accountability for aligning customer communications across multiple channels, coordinating messaging and promotions with Social Media, Online Marketing, CRM, User Experience, Design, etc.

About you

So, what are we looking for in a placement student? Firstly, you must be an undergraduate student looking for a 12 month, full time placement position as part of a sandwich degree. You’ll have 300 UCAS points from 3 A-Levels with an expected degree classification of a 2:1 or higher.  In addition, you’ll be an excellent communicator, with the ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines. Most importantly, we are looking for individuals with ambition, passion and a desire to work in the travel industry.
