About NCS The Challenge

The Challenge is the UK's leading charity for building a more integrated society. Our mission is to design and deliver programmes that bring different people together to develop their confidence and skills in understanding and connecting with others.

Support Worker Mentor

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with young people with additional needs to take on one of our paid inclusion roles in London, Surrey, Buckinghamshire & Berkshire, West Midlands, Manchester, Lancashire or Yorkshire.

Our Support Worker and Personal Coach roles provide 1-2-1 care to young people with identified support needs whilst they’re participating on our National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. Alternatively, our specialist Learning & Behaviour Mentor and Mental Health Adviser roles work alongside staff teams to add valuable experience and support knowledge to those running our seasonal programme. In 2017 we are looking for dedicated individuals to assist young people to help them build their confidence and gain skills.

NCS The Challenge is an inclusive programme, offering life-changing experiences and opportunities to all young people, including those with:

  • A history of offending
  • A background in the care system
  • Identified challenging behaviour
  • A range of additional support needs (including physical, learning support, and/or mental health needs)

The Challenge is the UK's leading charity for building a more integrated society. Our mission is to design and deliver programmes that bring different people together to develop their confidence and skills in understanding and connecting with others.

We are the largest provider of NCS, a life-changing initiative that brings together 15 to 17 year olds from different backgrounds. We are committed to ensuring every young person is able to fully participate in the NCS programme, which aims to build their confidence, and to inspire and challenge them to make a difference in their local community. In summer 2016, over 38,000 young people took part in NCS The Challenge for an intensive three to four week summer programme. The success of the programme hinges on our 4,500 seasonal staff members.
