Offshore Wind farm Placement

Rampion Offshore Wind Farm is due to become operational in mid-2017 with final completion in early 2018. This placement is within the Engineering department of the Wind Farm Operations team and will be based at the site’s operations facility in Newhaven harbour.

What you’ll do

  • You’ll be involved in the development of the engineering strategy for a selected major component/system (turbine structures, blades, gearboxes, generators, foundations & seabed, high-voltage transmission system)
  • Identify long-term inspection and maintenance requirements and innovative cost-effective methods of assessing and maintaining integrity
  • Model and optimise methods of carrying out required work, taking account of all resources and variables such as personnel, crew transfer vessel selection and availability, fuel, weather and breakdowns
  • Negotiate, place and manage contracts for outsourced activities
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to the use of the site’s computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for the planning, scheduling, tracking and recording of inspection work

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to be someone who is able to learn and quickly understand new technologies and systems as well as having the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll need to source data from a range of sources, analysing and utilising that data effectively. You’ll also be able to identify innovative methods of solving problems as well as having the ability to produce clear and justified recommendations, demonstrating the confidence to challenge current ‘industry best practice’.

The desirable skills or experience we look for: knowledge of the renewable energy sector is useful, along with hands-on experience of building/maintaining any type of physical asset (i.e. house, car, bike).
