About G-Research

IT Support Analyst - Year-long Placement
You will be working on a diverse range of technologies, responsible for maintaining and improving our infrastructure:
- Virtual and Workstation Blade upgrades and deployments
- Server 2012 upgrades and deployments
- Server and workstation hardware, diagnostics and repair
- PCoIP configuration and diagnostics
- Software upgrades, including trading and general infra applications
- Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange management
- VMWare ESX virtual infrastructure
- Storage and Computing: SAN, Flash, Tiered with computing farms
- Backup infrastructure and disaster recovery
- Software packaging and build systems
- Automation and scripting
Introduction and Training
Your time with us will involve intense training- it is essential that you become accustomed to our user environment and IT infrastructure in order to progress and feel confident working within the team. This period consists of hands-on training, learning our day-to-day systems as well attending theoretical seminars in relation to how our systems work and who is responsible for each aspect.
Following the successful completion of a training period you will be integrated into the IT Support team, working alongside a mentor and members of the senior team who will daily provide support. Informal and formal progress reviews and updates will be undertaken regularly.
The Individual
This opportunity will suit those who have a passion for technology and an aptitude for applying computing concepts to real world problems. Applicants will have strong A Levels or a BTEC with triple distinction, as well as being on course for a 2:1 or better. This role will be a formal year placement- as such, unfortunately we are unable to offer short internships or insight days within this team.
One thing all successful candidates have in common is a motivation to use technology, new concepts and new ideas to solve a diverse range of problems. This role offers the perfect opportunity to put theory into practice.
