Category Management Industrial Placement

Within L'Oréal we split our products into 5 distinct categories; haircare, hair colourants, fragrances, cosmetics and skincare. This is a systematic way of managing a product category as a strategic business unit. Category Management strengthens the relationship between retailer and supplier enabling greater collaboration to exchange information, share data and build growth of the category together.

You will be working within the Category Management team, supporting and assisting the Category Manager on generating reports and recommendations, alongside the development and implementation of projects. The role also provides significant exposure to both the Sales and Marketing teams. You will also be liaising with several divisions within a retailer which will develop your project management skills, test your communication skills, efficiency, co-ordination and interpersonal skills.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the relevant Category Manager in the creation of the overall visual layout of the category
  • Work with Merchandising, Category Management teams and a creative agency to develop detailed proposals
  • Work with the design team to ensure projects are progressed within agreed timelines
  • Manage the development of visual and prototype designs through a creative agency
  • Gain agreement from Marketing teams at all stages of development
  • Ensure that Commercial teams are fully briefed on the project development

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a desire to work in Category Management, Merchandising or Marketing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and management potential
  • Able to work within tight deadlines, both internal and external
  • Be organised, proactive and able to plan effectively
  • Demonstrate attention to detail /accuracy
  • Be logical and provide solutions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK
  • You must be completing a placement as part of your degree
  • You must be on track to attaining a 2:1 for your degree
