Electrical and Control & Instrumentation Engineering Summer Internship

Our 10-week summer placement programme is designed to increase employability in students whilst providing a valuable resource to the business. We’re looking for self-directed learners and self-motivated individuals who show potential to grow, learn and develop on our programme. You should aim to demonstrate a can-do, proactive attitude and a genuine interest and desire to learn more about our business and industry. In return, we offer projects with a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to enhance and develop the fundamental skills required for working life, with a support network that’s second to none. We want you to stand out in the workplace and helping you establish your strengths and fulfil your potential is what our Summer Placement is all about. We also encourage you to get involved with community and charity activities. One of these is the Summer Placement Charity Challenge, which raises money for our chosen charities. In the last three years students have raised around £50,000 through various team initiatives – all while enhancing vital skills and networking across the business. If you perform well, you could leave us with an offer to join the Graduate Programme the following year.

We have locations across the UK – plus we arrange and pay for accommodation close to your place of work with other students based in the area.

As a leading energy and services company with a gas, oil, distributed energy, power generation and storage portfolio, we can offer you the ideal starting point for your career as a Chartered Engineer.

You could work in one of our business operations such as Centrica Exploration and Production, Centrica Distributed Energy and Power or Centrica Storage. We’ll support you as you work part of a diverse, multi-disciplined team responsible for supplying millions of customers, but working quickly and reliably under pressure will become second nature. Most of all, you’ll be encouraged to develop new skills and build on your knowledge.

We know there are great challenges to overcome in the future. So we’re looking for passionate and creative electrical and control & instrumental engineers who can help to deliver solutions, often within tight timeframes, and implement them safely and successfully.

Entry requirement

In final year of study, with expected minimum 2:1 BEng degree (and planning to complete a MEng post placement) or penultimate year of study with expected minimum 2:1 MEng degree. Your degree must be accredited by the relevant engineering institution (for example IET). A full driving licence (upon starting the programme) is required.
