About Volvo Group & the Department

Volvo Financial Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of AB Volvo and employs over 90 people in the UK, providing financial services to the truck, bus and coach, construction, aero and marine companies within Volvo.

The purpose of VFS is to support Volvo Group with customer financing solutions at all stages of the business cycle. We partner with our sister product companies to provide a full range of financial and insurance services for Volvo's customers and dealers.

Volvo Financial Services Legal department provides legal and compliance support to VFS Service Centre West (SCW). SCW covers the following markets: United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium. The primary objectives of the department are to provide legal and compliance advice to the business, to support the growth of the business from within and in so doing to advise the business on how it can achieve its goals in the most efficient manner whilst remaining legal and compliant.

Para Legal Placement

We have an exciting opportunity within our legal department reporting directly to the Company Solicitor.

Responsibilities:

Working on various projects you will get to learn about different areas of the department which will give you a sound and broad understanding for your time after University.

Currently, the key projects are:

  • To review the VFS website for compliance with applicable law;
  • To assist the Company Solicitor to review compliance with Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing laws in UK, Ireland, Belgium and Holland;
  • To assist the Company Solicitor to review compliance with Data Protection laws in UK, Ireland, Belgium and Holland;
  • To assist the Company Solicitor to conduct gap analyses of regulatory compliance in insurance mediation activities for UK, Ireland, Belgium and Holland;
  • To assist the Company Solicitor to review legal templates for VFS UK, Ireland, Belgium and Holland.

Other Duties:

In addition to the projects, this new role will also support the wider remit of the VFS SCW Legal function with a range of tasks to support function deliverables & providing a broader legal & compliance experience for the successful applicant.

Competencies, skills and knowledge required:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Attention to detail essential;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word;
  • French/Dutch language skills desirable but not essential;
  • Can do attitude and willingness learn;
  • May be required to spend some time working with operations team in order to gain experience and a good understanding of the business
