About Volvo Group & the Department

The Volvo Commercial Truck Department operates within the Group Trucks organisation as part of Volvo Group UK Ltd.

Volvo Commercial Trucks is responsible for truck sales in the UK & Ireland via our Dealer Network and Direct Sales to our Key Account Customers. This is achieved by developing and promoting the Volvo Total Offer to our customers including Service Contracts, Finance, Dynafleet Telematics and Driver Development. Commercial Trucks also takes ownership of the development of our Dealers Sales Process and Competence Development.

Sales Support Industrial Placement

We have an exciting opportunity within our department where the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the team and make a real change. The role reports directly to the Transport Solutions Manager, where there is opportunity to provide a new perspective on day to day duties within the team.

Responsibilities:

Working on various projects you will get to learn about different areas of the department which will give you a sound and broad understanding for your time after University.

In essence, the key projects being:

  • Undertake a comprehensive review of Transport Solutions Offer used by Volvo Group UK, including benchmarking against our competitors.
  • Analyse our current Driver CPC offer against our competitors including the Brexit impact
  • Analyse our Dynafleet offer
  • Investigate the funding opportunities of Driver CPC and how we can incorporate our CPC into Truck sales process
  • Produce various quick guides e.g. Dynafleet and Vehicle Handover
  • Support the National Fleet VHO process for the large fleet introductions
  • Support in the production of Dynafleet Retro fit guides
  • Exploit the advantages of using the vehicle handover App
  • Create RHD Driver Training Material working in conjunction with our Marketing teams and the driver Development team in VTC
  • Maximise the usage of the Dynafleet Check & Drive App

Another project is the Sales Academy Development which would be to evaluate the current status of the Sales Academy which provides tailored training programmes for dealer network sales executives. The project will involve:

  • Review the stage one induction programme
  • Development of skills database and a clear competence framework for all sales executives on commencement of their role, develop a process for continual follow up to ensure competence level is maintained.
  • To undertake skills assessment of all sales executives to identify gaps and trends and create a database
  • Review the current course content to ensure it is fit for purpose, make changes and promote new programme

Other Duties:

General assistance to other members of the Transport Solutions team as required

Competencies, skills and knowledge required:

  • Team player
  • High level of computer literacy, including all standard Microsoft packages.
  • An interest in Vehicle Telematics & Applications
  • General interest in Transport
  • Excellent level of written & verbal communication
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to present ideas in a logical & practical manner
  • Strong proofreading skills & high attention to detail
  • Willing to travel, stay away overnight
  • Have an interest in the automotive industry
  • High energy levels; creative & enquiring
  • Willing to learn, develop & contribute quickly
  • Ability to work well under pressure & to stringent deadlines
  • Ability to handle a number of tasks, along with core project, at any one time
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the group
  • Current driving licence
