About Panasonic

Panasonic is a multinational fast-moving electronics company with thousands of employees worldwide that focuses on improving the everyday lives of customers through our products. Founded nearly 100 years ago, we are always moving forward to reflect society’s demands and so need forward thinking individuals that will bring personality and positivity to the roles advertised.

Digital Marketing Assistant Placement

You will be a key member of the Brand Communications team and will play a significant role in working with the Marketing team.

Our mission is twofold.

  1. To run the day-to-day operations for Panasonic UK on all our web platforms for all our products and the brand as a whole
  2. To create ideas, explore new opportunities and drive innovation in marketing, with a focus on digital, for the whole consumer products division.

We’re a small team with big targets and an even bigger ambition. You’ll be more than a student supporting the digital marketing efforts of the company. You’ll be an integral part of the team and will have the freedom to think of new ideas, improve existing platforms and marketing activities, and be creative and run projects end to end.

It’s your chance to make a difference.

That’s great! I’m interested. Tell me more!

We work across all our products. So, you’ll be working on everything from cameras to TVs to microwaves to wireless speakers to beauty care products. If you like variety, you’ve come to the right place.

You’ll be exposed to all aspects of digital marketing from the website, to social media, to newsletters, to managing communities, to working with retailers and direct e-commerce.

And as we’re part of a wider Brand Communications team, you’ll also be working on broader brand based activities and projects with other disciplines like PR, advertising and events.

Ok. So what are my primary job responsibilities?

You’ll mainly be responsible for the below 6 aspects:

1. Panasonic Redemptions Platform:

We run promotions on our products throughout the year. These are in the form of cashbacks, gifts or extended warranties. Customers use the main promotions site to make their claims (promotions.panasonic.co.uk).

As the main contact point for this within the business you will deal with all product groups to make sure the promotions are easy for customers to understand, don’t clash with any other activity, check the legal terms and liase with the agency to update the website accurately.
As part of this responsibility, as it is a source of data, you will also run surveys and work with the CRM manager to manage data and do more with it.

2. Marketing Update for Independent Dealers:

On a monthly basis we communicate with our independent dealers regarding the upcoming, latest and past promotions to help them prepare their promotion strategy to sell our products. As part of this we prepare a document that is sent to them.

This whole process is currently under review with a scope to find a more efficient solution. If this is not completed by the time you join, you will be expected to lead this and help find a solution that is fit for purpose and achieves greater business efficiencies through cost or effort reduction.

3. Customer Surveys:

Understanding our customers is a key part of the business. We use our CRM tool and Survey Gizmo Pro, to conduct a number of insightful surveys across categories. The success of this initiative over the last 12 months has resulted in an increasing demand for more consumer insight surveys.

You will manage this by working with internal product marketing teams and the brand comms team to identify what insight we are trying to find, finalising the right questions to do this, working with the agency to create the survey and then analysing the results.

This will also involve working with the CRM manager to create online data forms for LIVE events.

4. Digital Insights:

We do a number of activities across platforms. We need to know what’s working, what could be better and what we can improve next time to keep pushing the boundaries. To do this, we need to look at all our activities to analyse them.

You will work with the other members of the digital team to work on the monthly insights across platforms and activities to identify key results that we will share with the rest of the business.

5. Leading Digital Activations (eg: Olympics, National Trust):

You will have the opportunity to take the lead on the digital side of various business wide activations like the partnerships and sponsorships with Olympic Games and National Trust as an example. Your role will be to ensure that you are on top of all requirements from a digital side, helping other areas of business where possible and managing activities end-to-end.

6. Digital Team Activities:

Beyond this you will be expected to contribute to all other digital marketing initiatives. We are a creative team and we want ideas! Show me you can do it, and you will get the opportunity to work on it or lead it.

So, what are we looking for?

  • We’re looking for someone who can take initiative and find solutions. You’ll have lots of responsibilities and we’re a small team. You’ll have all the support you need, so the onus is on you to make the best use of it. Show us you can do it, and we’ll let you take the lead on it.
  • Ability to think critically and analyse activities to see what worked, what didn’t and what we can improve. You don’t need to be an Excel whizz, as long as you are comfortable with numbers, working on excel and critical analysis.
  • We’re a small team and we’re looking for ideas all the time. Creativity is important in the team.
  • Close attention to detail to ensure that while the ideas are great creatively, they also come across in execution.
  • “Team” is the buzzword we operate with. There are a lot of responsibilities in a small team and we are expected to lead the digital thought within the business. You should be able to work well with different people and deliver results
  • You’ll be working with a lot of different people at different levels both internally and at our agencies and partners. You’ll need strong communications skills to help you push ideas through.
  • And to manage all your responsibilities, we’re looking for you to be good at managing your time.

Company Benefits:

  • Discounted Panasonic products (after probationary period)
  • Free parking
  • 25 days holiday per annum
  • Subsidised gym, sports hall and staff restaurant on site
