About GSK

One of the world’s leading healthcare companies, GSK discovers, develops, manufactures and distributes life-saving vaccines, prescription medicines and consumer health products such as Maxinutrition, Sensodyne, Aquafresh and Panadol.

The size and scope of our organisation allows our people to answer some of the biggest questions facing everyone on the planet – questions about future healthcare needs and questions about building a responsive, innovative, global business to meet them – as well as questions about their own personal and professional growth.

Communications Industrial Placement

The communications team gives GSK a voice. We engage, inspire and inform our employees. Externally, we look after our global brand image and reputation. How do we do this? By coming up with and delivering clear and consistent messages to patients, consumers and doctors, shareholders, investors, partners, the media and the general public.

Our 12 month industrial placements offer the opportunity to support communications activities for employees or an external audience in order to enhance GSK’s reputation. In Consumer Healthcare, you could develop brand campaigns for some of the world's leading household brands. In Pharmaceuticals, you might develop campaigns to raise awareness of our healthcare products and initiatives including the charitable programmes we support to raise healthcare standards globally.

In ViiV Healthcare’s global communications team you could support the global communications functions for both internal and external audiences. In corporate communications, you could be enhancing our reputation through reporting or media relations. Or a role in our government affairs team could see you support the delivery of projects including assisting with research and analysis and providing project management support to GAPPPA team members on fast-moving policy areas, including the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

What’s in it for me?

A communications placement is a great chance to apply the skills you have learned at university in a ‘live’ role and learn new ones. The work will bring you into contact with people across the business, external organisations and the media, so you’ll be constantly developing your interpersonal skills. You’ll also build your organisational and problem-solving abilities.
