I enjoyed that their were other Placement students during my year here but the job role I was given was not particularly interesting and I do not feel the Placement tutor scheme was useful. I worked very hard and my team and task managers agree with this, however, I was not recognised by my placement tutor (an IBM employee) who decides my fast track employment with IBM.
I was given a lot of responsibility when I was trusted to get on with. I was given some really exciting jobs, such as going to the Advertising Agency for education days, I organised all the advertising which I had to collect information for and work with the advertising agency to put together. I also got to help at some really good events such as the annual CBI dinner where the chancellor of the exchequor did a speach which I enjoyed over a 4 course meal!!! And most exciting of all I worked at the Wimbledon championships where I got to meet some of the players, and even managed to get on centre court for the mens final. It was really enjoyable experience but also a lot of hardwork but defintally worth it.
I really enjoyed my first role as Expense Analyst, however around Christmas 2007 I learmt that my job role was to move to Slovakia. At first I was a little disappointed but then I started to think about all the small annoying parts of the job at which point I began to look forward to handing the job over. Plus, I got the chance to travel to Slovakia and work from there for two weeks. The new job role I now have as Statutory Accountant is completely different to the first role and I feel quite privileged that I have had the chance to see two very different parts of the business.
