Being based on client site, I was cut off and with little interaction to the community of placement workers based in Southbank. This was something I was not prepared for in undertaking the position, with the expectation I would be Central London based. On top of this, I joined a team of 3 graduates, but within 2 months of starting, the team was reduced to me solely. I therefore assumed lots of responsibility across my year, but the pressure, exposure and accountability was highly stressful particularly at the beginning as an inexperienced student. I was given little support or guidance during this period, and felt extremely overwhelmed at times.
This placement year has been very enjoyable and exceeded my expectations. My role as HR Partner Support is very varied which has meant I have got involved in many projects. This has kept me interested and enabled exposure to many different experiences. I couldn't recommend this role and company more.
My placement has be brilliant from start to finish. Having responsibility from day one, it has been challenging but in the end very rewarding. I have been lucky enough to work with four other interns this year which has been great, always creating a fun working environment. The placement has been extremely enjoyable.
It has been an extremely enlightening insight into the corporate business world. I had far more responsibility than I imagined and therefore the outcomes and results were far better. I would recommend this placement to any young early professional looking for a placement
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at IBM throughout my time there. Whilst not every role offered to interns may be the most exciting every experience is one to be enjoyed and learnt from. The people you meet both other interns and full time employees are fantastic and really allow you to turn this into more than just work experience.
My placement has been fairly enjoyable, I have worked with a great team and had the chance to meet some great people in an interesting role, however my task manager was rude and unapproachable which influenced team morale throughout the year.
I enjoyed the placement from start to finish. The work was challenging and I received training throughout. My role was cross industry so I gained experience and knowledge across the board which will be valuable when starting my career and choosing my next steps. Doing a placement has made the university experience worthwhile.
I enjoyed the placement as a whole, however I did feel a bit isolated as the site where I worked was a bit far from home to see my family often and was isolated from a lot of events that occured in IBM as the site was in Scotland and most of the events happend in London. I was however able to travel to some of these events in London and gained a lot of experience working in a big company like IBM
My Placement has been the highlight of my degree. Moving to London and being able to work for one of the worlds biggest companies is a life changing opportunity. I have developed so much professionally and personally, developed a new skill set and made my future career prospects so much brighter.
I've had some great experiences and a lot of the people I've worked with have been brilliant. Most of the work I felt was rewarding, but some managers did shift their admin work on to me, and as an intern trying to establish a reputation it's difficult to say no. Overall I've had fun.
I have very much enjoyed the variety of work I have been able to participate in during my internship. The people I have been surrounded have been supportive and played an integral role in helping me to develop my skill set. I feel I have gained a good insight into the sort of job I would like to pursue post-university and am very much looking forward to the futute.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement here at IBM. It has given me invaluable work-place experience, as well as developing my skills in a business environment. There were times when I felt like I did not have much to do, or was not contributing much to the team, but as a whole the placement year has been very enjoyable.
