I have thoroughly enjoyed my work placement at IBM. I think that moving away from home for the year helped me to become more immersed in the intern community (both inside and outside of work) as well as helping me to gain independence. I also got the opportunity to visit other IBM UK sites and therefore travel around the country to attend a number of events and conferences.
I enjoyed a lot of aspects of it, mainly the experience of being in an international company. It is truly remarkable how you have colleagues across the world. This makes you embrace working with people that are different than you. The work itself could have been more challenging though. I also do not think that my placement aligned my expectations. I was accepted to do a business placement but at the end of the day, my daily tasks had nothing to do with managing, project management or any other characteristic of a business position.
Very good experience, amazing social life and good opportunities, eg to take part in different events, for both clients, internal, etc etc. Good social life with loads of other interns, including xmas parties etc. Very flexible role, but does also depend on manager etc. Highly recommend, wouldnt have changed a thing
I really enjoyed my work placement at IBM. I was able to seek many opportunities in within my role and for interests outside of my role too. They have a good placement structure which allows you to keep checkpoints and document what you have completed throughout the year. Everybody wants the best for you and helps you where they can.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement this year. It has been challenging but rewarding, and you get the opportunity to work with so many different people in different aspects of the company outside of your day job. The atmosphere is great and you will always be treated as an equal member of the team you are in.
I loved my placement year, I was offered a great level of support from a number of people, and I'll be very sorry to leave. I have become close friends with a large number of other interns, and I gained valuable professional experience to take back to Uni with me.
I very much enjoyed my work placement at IBM, I was able to earn multiple opportunities and constantly supported by my team and Managers. The Foundation team is well-structured and the team makes sure that everyone on the Placement Scheme enjoys their year at IBM, whatever they're interested in.
My placement with IBM was extremely rewarding for my professional and personal growth. Although I was working in a challenging and at times, isolated role and experienced many challenging periods during the year, this was more beneficial as I was able to reassess what I was capable of achieving on my own.
I absolutely loved my year at IBM! The people and working environment was incredible and I had so much opportunity and encouragement to learn. I had very high expectations for IBM and have to say that they were surpassed by a long way. The whole experience has really changed my outlook on my future, my goals and shaped my mindset upon returning to university.
The Extreme Blue internship program was extremely enjoyable as it presented me with a unique opportunity to work with interesting clients, learn about modern design and development methodologies, and take ownership within a real-world technology problem. The people at IBM, my fellow interns, and the opportunity to interact with international teams were aspects that contributed to the holistic nature of the internship.
My year at IBM was enjoyable, however not being based at Southbank did seem to limit my opportunities to an extent. However despite this, you can still make your own opportunities and there are plenty of people you can reach out to ensure you can enjoy your placement experience outside of your day to day role.
I really enjoyed the overall placement. The beginning was rather rough and slow to being with but over time it got easier. Once it picked up, I felt I was being engaged a lot more and involved with projects which really mattered and were business crucial. At that, the time went by really quickly for me.
