I greatly enjoyed the insight. The firm put on its best face across all areas (both in terms of the associates and trainees I was working with, the members of the graduate recruitment team I met, the trainee buddy I was assigned). It was the most enjoyable out of the several vacation schemes I had completed to date.
I really enjoyed my vacation scheme. I felt that I gained a really useful insight into life at the firm and the atmosphere was totally welcoming and friendly. I also really enjoyed all of the social events that the firm put on and felt these were a great way to meet other interns and future colleagues!
With little insight of commercial law as a in-law student, this experience provided a great introduction to corporate life and the culture of the firm. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the cohort, while the team building and social events help support this feeling of communal support. I also enjoyed the informational sessions.
I very much enjoyed the vacation scheme, especially working in such a welcoming, interesting and fun team in ICM. It was also great to get to know the other participants, and I especially enjoyed the team activities we completed, both law-related and otherwise. I think we were all made to feel very welcome at the firm.
I really enjoyed my time on the vacation scheme! The opportunity to spend two weeks in one practice area and get involved in real work was fantastic. There was also a great balance between spending time at your desk and attending scheduled insight sessions and other events.
This was the most complete and enjoyable commercial law insight scheme I attended in my first year. All the Graduate Recruitment staff were open and willing to answer any question you had. The other candidates were also extremely friendly, creating a very good atmosphere on the scheme. All sessions were of a very high quality, and the scheme ran extremely smoothly.
I greatly enjoyed the 2 days I spent at Allen & Overy, getting to know the people and atmosphere of the firm. As well as presentations and work shadowing, the social events held by the firm were very much appreciated. Overall, I had a fantastic time and received many insights.
I really enjoyed the scheme. It was great being mixed up on the first day and do team exercises because you got pushed out of your comfort zone, the quiz and building challenge were great ice breakers . I enjoyed the social. The interaction with some many employees was also really enjoyable. the scheme was never boring.
I really enjoyed this insight at Allen & Overy's First Scheme. There was a perfect blend between informative, interactive sessions (to name a few: a personal brand presentation, a mock negotiation exercise and inside tips for interviews) and social activities (networking over lunch and even ping pong!). The scheme also provided the opportunity to shadow a 'trainee buddy', which allowed me to see for myself what kind of work corporate lawyers got involved in rather than hearing it from other people!
I went for A&O First, a 2-day insight programme at the firm that buddies you up with a mentor to help you develop throughout the year, at the end of which I'll interview for a TC. The programme was packed and thoroughly enjoyable - the commercial awareness sessions, workshops, and networking events were all engaging.
After participating in A&O First, I was able to attend a further international insight scheme at Allen & Overy's Brussels office. Participants could choose which practice area they would like to get an insight into, and my time in the Banking department was both enjoyable and informative. Both the junior associate buddies in Brussels and the trainees in London were very helpful, and taught me a lot about aspects of their work which helped me to understand the job of a solicitor at an international firm. In the second half of the day I was able to get an insight into IP and Public Law, thus the range of experience into the practice areas I gained from A&O First and the international scheme is unparalleled.
I really enjoyed the Winter Vacation Scheme with Allen & Overy. The scheme ran smoothly and was organised, enabling us to make the most of the 5 days we had. The graduate recruitment team organised a number of sessions for us that were not only useful in understanding more about the firm, but also to develop our own skillset. These included a practice area networking breakfast, a coding evening, business services game and multiple 'coffee chats'.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Vacation Scheme. It was had the opportunity to experience a diverse range of work and spoke to people from all departments of the firm to further my engagement and understanding of the work. I was able to engage with the ethos and culture of the firm. Because of all of this, I enjoyed the Vacation Scheme tremendously.
I really enjoyed my insight, it gave me a great insight into the commercial word. I was able to shadow trainees and associates and do real work that would be used in actual deals! I also went to a lot of workshops and informal coffee chats with various trainees to learn more about A&O, all in all it was amazing.
Allen and Overy was a great firm to have a vacation scheme at. Everyone at the firm was really welcoming and all the workshops were aimed at giving us extra skills which meant that even if you didn’t receive a job offer, you would be a better candidate for future roles.
I thoroughly enjoyed the scheme. From interview to the two days in Easter, to the return office visit, I learnt something new every time. I gave it 9/10 instead of 10 just because during the Easter days, my supervisor gave me a very mundane task for the entirety of the 3 hours. I would have preferred some variety.
The scheme was simply great. It covered a wide variety of aspects of the firm and helped me develop professionally. The skills workshops conducted were all relevant and very well-structured. I learned a lot more about specific practice areas through my work shadowing opportunities, and was fortunate enough to visit one of A&O's international offices.
