About Politrip

Politrip was founded in 2017, following our Director and Founder’s experience of campaigning on the Hilary Clinton Presidential Campaign in Miami during the 2016 Presidential election. From the outset, it has been Politrip’s aim and long-term vision to become:

“The number one facilitator of political travel trips. We want to give individuals everywhere the opportunity to make an impact in local communities through international grassroots political campaigning.”

We ran our first trips to the US in the Summer and Autumn of 2018, when a team of 50 ‘Politrippers’ volunteered on Congressional Campaigns in Florida, New Hampshire, California, and Virginia. We were able to place our participants on the winning campaigns of Katie Porter, Jennifer Wexton and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, and our participants even had the opportunity to meet Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Tim Kaine and attend a rally headlined by Barack Obama!

In 2019 a group of 20 Politrippers headed to Des Moines Iowa to spend the summer campaigning on the Presidential Primary Campaigns of Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren. Whilst in Iowa, our participants got to meet nearly all of the 25 Democratic Candidates for President including: Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar and Bernie Sanders.

Like everyone we had big plans for 2020. Whilst we may not be able to take people to campaign in America this year, we still want to give people the opportunity to get involved in this historic Presidential Election. That has inspired us to create the 2020 Virtual Activist Programme. This programme gives YOU the opportunity to volunteer for Campaigns right across the US from the comfort and safety of your own home.

We know that this is a tough time for everyone right now, with career plans, holidays, further education and much more either altered or cancelled altogether. That is why we have ensured the Virtual Activist Programme is as flexible as possible, allowing you to volunteer at times which work for you.

As a Virtual Activist on one of our 1-month or 2-week placements you will have the chance to increase turnout on election day through phone-banking in key swing districts, networking with campaign staff and meeting other volunteers, all whilst gaining valuable transferable skills and experience.

And on the Virtual Activist Programme, it isn’t all work. We will be providing a range of networking and social events including virtual debate night watch parties, a virtual election night watch party and maybe even the opportunity to meet (virtually) some of your political heroes!
