I enjoyed the placement because i was able to liaise with different teams around the world. Furthermore, I was entrusted to deliver projects and I was given huge responsibilities. The job was awesome and my colleagues were fantastic, however, the location was not my favourite one. from a night-life perspective, there wasn't much to do in Cheltenham and I did not experience many group activities. Overall it was a positive experience that I helped me to develop my skills.
I enjoyed every aspect of my internship, i would love to work for there company in the future, as I’m not only interested in the work that they provide, but the role that I can play for the business. I felt apart of something big during my placement and would encourage any other student to get involved and join GE. As you get treated with respect and you are given lots of responsibilities and learning experiences.
The role I undertook was externally ‘Operations Management’ but internally referred to as Materials Planner. I loved my time at GE Aviation, I was exposed to more than I could have possibly imagined. From facilitating meetings with senior managers to running a variety of production lines, I was able to see different levels of the business from a variety of different perspectives. I was never made to feel like an intern and was entrusted with more responsibility than I could have imagined.
My placement year was very enjoyable, you learn a great deal while also being amongst other placement students so it feels like uni. The work is varied and they give you the opportunity to take on further projects as well as work on a large intern project with everyone else so there’s little chance of being bored, given there’s so much to get on with. Just make sure you make it clear you want to change up your tasks though.
I loved my time with GE Aviation! it was the best decision I ever made. I enjoyed the fact I was able to try many different things and have an impact on numerous projects. I felt extremely protected as an intern yet at the same time felt I had to freedom to lead on projects. The variety and ability to experience so much of the business made the work extremely exciting. I have learnt so much in 14 months and would highly recommend GE Aviation to anyone.
I enjoyed my placement, it was interesting to work in a factory with a team of skilled engineers. The beginning of the internship was a little slow as I didn’t receive much guidance but after a few months I really enjoyed it. I was given plenty of responsibility and trusted with my own projects as well as taking part in group projects with other interns. My site had a lot of interns which was good for social events
It was a great experience where I was able to develop a number of valuable skills from; project management to LEAN Six Sigma to leadership. The quality of mentoring is next too none and I would hope to return one day. The internship program is exceptional, in the respect that it aids both the employees and companies development. I would recommend the internship to anybody considering a career in aviation or even as broad as manufacturing.
My experience working at GE Aviation was invaluable. I had the opportunity to work with members from several departments on different projects which not only helped build my interpersonal skills but also encouraged me to develop technical skills by observing how experienced team members approach problems. This was especially important due to the main project I worked on being a research and development program. Exploring new technologies for aviation was thrilling. It was great to have been able to be a part of that project which I hope to see progress further in the news.
(Disclaimer: my internship occured from July 2019 - July 2020, and so in the final months all employees were furloughed due to Covid-19. Thus I completed 9 months of the internship). GE made for an enjoyable internship. There were ~45 other interns working at the Wales site, which meant it was very social and sorting housing was simple. The roles varied quite a lot between interns, and I worked in the Customer Technical Program for the GP7000 engine line. There were 9 other interns (alongside other permanent staff) in my office doing similar roles on different engines, so the office was really nice to work in.
I really enjoyed my placement at GE Aviation. I worked on real life projects and faced real challenges from day one. I was able to see the difference my work was making to the business and there was always support available to me through my my mentor, colleagues and the intern team.
I enjoyed my placement experience at GE my team were all very nice and knowledgeable so I felt like I fit in and was supported to further my engineering understanding. There was also a lot of scope in my role to complete other training and projects in addition to my usual role.
I enjoyed the work at GE Aviation Cheltenham. My finance role was varied and I had the opportunity to shadow people in different areas of finance. I was given a really good view of the whole finance department and not just the areas I worked in. Some aspects of the job could be a bit repetitive and boring, but it was only a small portion of my daily tasks.
The internship is extremely well focused on providing the best development possible for all the interns. The work is varied and exciting and interns are given a huge amount of responsibility for their work and development. Almost every work day would seem to fly by with exciting and challenging work.
The work was challenging and varied, and allowed me to get involved in many different areas of the business, working locally and globally. The level of respect and autonomy was refreshing, and it really felt like the work I was putting in was appreciated and had an impact to the company.
I highly enjoyed my work placement. The work given to me was interesting and engaging but could be stressful at times as it held real weight and value for the company. However, I was supported throughout and there was a really good atmosphere among colleagues and I was welcomed into the team immediately.
