The marketing team at CrossCountry Trains were unable to efficiently work as a 'team', which often affected projects and peoples attitude towards work. The culture within the company is very negative and employees are not happy within their roles, the way they are managed and the lack of development opportunities available. As a placement student, there was no support available to me.
I absolutely loved my year at crosscountry and never wanted to leave to go back to university. During my time there I learnt so many different skills which will help me both at university and in future employment. I also learnt an awful lot about the rail/transport industry and was amazed by how much everyone in the business played a part to help the company and being a business management student it was great to see how different departments are used in a 'real life's environment. I would definitely consider a job at cross country in the future after my 14 months there.
Undertaking a Placement Year at CrossCountry Trains was very valuable, varied and gave great exposure to the railway industry. From the start the company immediately allowed you to settle in well by arranging welcome sessions with other placement students to allow you to get to know them. There are also various sessions scheduled throughout the year to enable the placement students to work together on developing skills within different workshops. Each week was gradually integrated with new tasks to ensure you settled in well with the role.
