My aim of the Internship was to get further exposure of the baking industry and the Handelsbanken ways of working, whilst hopefully finding a permanent position within the bank. I felt very welcomed by the team and regularly interacted with them, speaking about my tasks and future development. Since Handelsbanken Branches do some things differently, it was a great experience for me to gain exposure into another Branch/region and their operations, whilst also building my network within the bank.
9/10 I really enjoyed my time with the bank. The internship itself was insightful and rewarding. I would recommend anyone interested in the relationship banking industry to apply to this internship. I was introduced to somebody from every department across the bank. Getting to learn from a variety of individuals across multiple departments.
I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the work internship with Handelsbanken. Everyday I looked forward to coming into the office, not only to be around the amazing and encouragingly supportive team, but also to be invited to get involved with whatever is going on that day and more. Despite the current uncertainties with the COVID pandemic, I am overwhelmed with the efforts from the team to ensure my experience was as full and informative as possible with current restrictions. I am so content with the experience gained and believe it has been invaluable in my life experience, hoping there is opportunity for return in the future.
100% It was the best decision I made and I wouldn't change a thing. My work placement was a year long - spending four months at Deloitte as a Tax analyst intern and eight months at Handelsbanken as an AMS split between two branches in central Birmingham. I got to experience work in two global companies in finance, both specialising in different aspects of finance one tax and consulting and the other banking and financial products.
I really enjoyed my time with Handelsbanken. The internship gave me experience on all areas of banking within the branch and allowed me to spent time with each team member to get a feel for their job role. This was a good insight which will be valuable when finishing University and deciding on my future career path. I also met individuals within different teams throughout the company to talk about their department and job roles.
I thoroughly enjoyed spending the summer with Handelsbanken, I felt apart of the company and was sad to leave at the end. The experience was invaluable in gaining insight into the Banking industry and I had the opportunity to see a vast range of departments such as Individual banking, Corporate Banking, Wealth Management and Head office roles within the company. I would highly recommend students aspiring a career in Banking to seek to complete an Internship ay Handelsbanken.
The placement was very enjoyable, I was able to go on client meetings with account managers which let me see first hand how the bank works with its customers and I got to meet a variety of people which was interesting. Working in the office was also generally enjoyable as the work was satisfying to do, but there were slow days as well.
Due to the nature of the business and day to day tasks, you can be somewhat limited on what you can and will be given more project work but staff and the work can be brilliant if approached in the right mind set. You can also vary your work if you communicate effectively with the team.
I really enjoyed my internship at Handelsbanken because it allowed me to see what working in a bank was like. It also gave me first hand experience of how effective decentralisation is and how much the customers like the bank only being a local phone call away.
Not much work was provided for me to do. I was constantly bored, however when I did have a task to complete, it was okay. The branch where I had my internship was rather quiet, therefore not a lot of work needed doing and the minimal work that was coming in was going straight to the other members of staff.
I really enjoyed my placement with Handelsbanken. I initially was supposed to just do an internship of 2 months over the summer - but as I enjoyed it so much and I was doing well so they extended it to 6 months. All the staff were lovely and made me feel so welcome.
I enjoyed my summer internship at Handelsbanken. I managed to develop on existing skills and competencies and I also managed to make new connections. I also managed to build up more industry knowledge in the banking sector and gained valuable transferrable skills that can be applied in many different fields.
My Handelsbanken internship has given me a great insight into the banking world. Due to the fact that the branch is the bank you get to interact with customers face to face and over the phone so you a great understanding on how the bank works. Furthermore the working environment is so welcoming you become part of the team straight away.
I thoroughly enjoyed my ten weeks at Handelsbanken. The time spent here was very insightful and it was great to get professional experience within the banking industry. It was also very interesting to see how the bank positioned itself within the market, and how their business model and strategy helped it to achieve high profitability.
