About Handelsbanken

Handelsbanken is a relationship bank, built around satisfied customers, financial strength and traditional values. We believe banking should be local and personal, and that the interests of our customers should always come first.

Handelsbanken began operating in the UK in 1982, and today has a branch network serving local individuals and businesses in 208 communities throughout the country.

Founded in 1871, Handelsbanken has over 800 branches in more than 20 countries worldwide, and has approximately 12,000 employees.

Our goal

Our goal is to have a higher profitability than the average of our competitors in our domestic markets, through increased customer satisfaction and lower costs.

How we work to achieve our goal

A satisfied customer will be happy to return. All employees, regardless of role and position, share one objective - customer satisfaction. Wherever our employees are within the organisation we all work, in one way or another, to improve the banking business for our customers.

Together we can do it

To achieve customer satisfaction we need knowledge, experience and genuine commitment. This applies to all of our employees, in all of the processes and in all departments across the bank. Every employee and every role is equally important in our business.

Decentralised

We are decentralised, which means that each local branch has responsibility for their own customers and their requirements and for taking the banking decisions that affect them. For customers this means the benefit of bespoke, personal service and swift decisions for all their needs.

Our values

There are many different roles here at Handelsbanken but we all share the same values. Values such as:

  • ärlighet – honesty
  • respekt – respect
  • saklighet – objectivity
  • samforstånd – agreement
  • jämlikhet - equality

We believe that every individual should be a role model and that every decision should be made for the benefit of the customer.

Handelsbanken are deeply committed to embedding good equality and diversity practice into all of our activities so that we are an inclusive, welcoming and inspiring place to work, regardless of age, disability, pregnancy and/or parental status, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender reassignment or sexual orientation.

We encourage and welcome applications from across the global community and all appointments are made solely on merit.
