About Raleigh International

Raleigh International creates lasting change youth. We are a sustainable development charity that believes that when local communities and young people work side by side to create positive change, it empowers them. And it’s the energy and motivation of empowered people that creates lasting change.

One of our programmes is International Citizen Service (ICS). ICS is a development programme that brings together young people from the UK and developing countries to volunteer in some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

ICS is led by VSO and funded by UK Government. It is delivered by respected development organisations, of which Raleigh is one.

Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers aged 18-25 and Team Leaders aged 23-35 to join Raleigh ICS in Nepal, Nicaragua and Tanzania. Our programmes focus on:

  • Livelihoods - working with young people and women to develop local businesses to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities
  • Water and sanitation – working with people in rural communities to improve their access to safe water and sanitation, and to raise awareness of positive sanitation practises

Our programmes depart three times a year in spring, summer and autumn. We are currently recruiting for placements in autumn 2017.

A message from one of our volunteers

“To someone who is thinking about volunteering with Raleigh ICS, I would say, definitely do it! It's an amazing experience, difficult at times, but so worthwhile. You'll make friends for life, have a huge impact on the community you're working in, and learn a lot more about different cultures, ways of living, and yourself than you would ever expect!” – Helena, volunteered with Raleigh ICS in 2015.
