I have really enjoyed my placement at ASM so far. I have gained a lot not only technical skills but also a lot of soft skills that would help toward my degree and improving my employability. Everyone in the company is normally very helpful and very appreciative of your work.
I enjoyed working with fellow engineers; like minded, motivated and creative individuals. it has worked as an opportunity to gauge how I measure up to the industry and a experience with many lessons.
My time at ASM has been great. I have enjoyed the content of the work, despite it being a different industry to my course, Advanced Vehicle Engineering. Everyone is very helpful and willing to add value to your placement, even if it is not related to work, and just for improving your skillset.
I enjoyed my placement at ASM for many different reasons; I feel like I have learnt such valuable skills and knowledge of how a big company operates, I was welcomed into such friendly working environment, the atmosphere was relaxed and so therefore allowed me to gain confidence in voicing myself.
Overall speaking, I have thoroughly enjoyed my 12-month placement year at ASM Assembly Systems. My role was a Mechanical Engineering placement student. I have had many opportunities to put my academic knowledge to use in a professional environment. Sometimes I even had to go back to my old lecture notes to revise a bit before I could continue. I have also learnt quite a few new skills which will definitely be useful in my future career, especially the CAD and other software skills.
Thoroughly enjoyed working at ASM over the 13 months that I have been here, my role was as a Mechanical Design Engineer. The people are very friendly, the place in itself is beautiful and there are plenty of different things to keep you occupied. ASM run lots of different sporting activities throughout the week which were free and give you a gym membership for half price. I learnt plenty in regards to my placement being a Mechanical Designer, the work is practical as well as designing parts on CAD, which I think is very important. The placement in my position put a lot of pressure on you to get the job done, which I think in this case was good for it allowed you to make your own decisions and be properly involved in the projects that I undertook.
It's has been a great year! Made good friends in the company and worked with helpful and lovely people that didn't make me feel like I was a student. I enjoyed the projects I worked on, some which involved programming a UR robot to automate processes in production to increase efficiency.
I enjoyed it a lot. Everyone in the company is so friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. The work can be a bit slow at times, but I was always able to find something to do. The social side of the company is also really good, with lots of events through the year.
My placement was really enjoyable. ASM make a huge effort to make their placement students feel welcome and students make up a large part of the business. The activities outside of work really helped make a friendly atmosphere which I was happy to be a part of and the variety of work meant that the placement was never boring.
You get to learn a lot. Very good for independent learners, a bit difficult if you want to be taught by somebody. Overall a great working experience. Expect more responsibility compared to university projects. Don't expect somebody else to do the work for you, as it can happen in university.
My placement at ASM allowed for me to participate in jobs all around the company. With practical and theoretical work. I enjoyed the ability to not just design something but to also see it made, tested and used in real-world applications. I also got the opportunity to leave the office on multiple occasions to work around England.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working for ASM during my 13 month placement. Each day offered its own unique challenge where my ability to program was tested on a regular basis. In most of the situation my ability and speed in fault finding errors directly influenced the speed at which other engineers could carry out their own work. This can seem like a daunting task, but I personal found this one of the more enjoyable parts of the job as it required me to think on my feet and work in an efficient manner.
the work is engaging and challenging and the big picture of what this company does to facilitate printed circuit boards feels meaningful. sometimes work can be a bit dull but there are plenty of exciting things that make the work enjoyable. two things to mention, I got my drawings sent to a manufacturer and saw my work come to life and be used in the machines, that was really amazing to go from concept idea all the way through to having it built in front of me. second, I was involved in some testing, working with lasers to collect and analyze data was interesting to see what was happening in the machines to such a precise level, really puts into perspective the level of work going on.
I really enjoyed my time working with ASM. As a student here, you're treated as an employee and not just a placement student. I was given plenty of responsibility, my own projects to work on and a lot of challenges. It makes ASM such a good place to do your placement because you get so much out of it and you aren't left to do menial tasks day in day out.
I enjoy coming to work as I seem to do something different everyday. I feel the work is interesting and I am therefore motivated to learn! My work placement allows me to explore different areas of software engineering in a supportive environment. I feel I have learnt a lot and gain valuable experience.
As a systems test engineer ,i enjoyed everyday working with the company as i was constantly challenged and tested by my mentors and colleagues, helping me improve my overall skill level as an engineer.I was given ownership and responsibility for my own developments which i believe is a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
I enjoyed my placement very much. So much so as I still work there now whilst studying for my final year at Bournemouth University. There was much to learn within the Software Department and being exposed to different areas of the business. The work was interesting and I was learning new things every day and gradually becoming more independent in my tasks.
I am currently on placement and am very much happy about how it is going. I have made friends that I will have for life. They support the students really well and try their best to adhere to the students' needs. I have learnt things I will be using in my future career and have benefited greatly from spending time in a work environment.
My placement with ASM was unbelievable. The job was varied, the tasks were interesting and the people were friendly. The atmosphere was amazing, with parties, social events and weekly sports. The emphasis on team bonding and being 'fun to work with' was not taken lightly.
