I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Airbus. The freedom of the working hours makes it ideal for anyone who has never had a full time job and allows you to integrate into the work schedule. A bonus of the company is Flexi time (weekly) and also half days on a Friday. This helps the end of the week feel like a well deserved rest!
I enjoyed the work I was doing as the project I worked on was close to my passions and interests. Spending my working days inside aircraft wings was a really unique and exciting experience! I did however struggle with the resistive nature of manufacturing as a whole, and the lack of degree knowledge that was needed in the projects.
I could not possibly imagine how amazing my internship will be. Airbus makes some really cool products and I got the chance to work with some amazing people and see for myself how the products are being made across all European plants, whilst doing work inside and outside my comfort zone that significantly improved my skillset.
During the 3 week insight I had a really interesting time, and enjoyed myself a lot. Although it was hard work it was very interesting and gave me a lot of insight into how that industry works - and helped me decide whether I want a job in that field in the future.
I found my year placement at Airbus very enjoyable overall. It was, as I can imagine is the case with all placements, a bit strange to go from Uni into a professional working environment but I would definitely recommend the internship to other students keen to get real industrial experience.
Opportunities for movement within the company were limited as an intern, though the department I was working for was excellent. Limited opportunities to see the actual product you were working on. A method of securing a graduate position would be much appreciated.

It was a different but valueable placement year which taught me alot about working in an engineering environment. From the start it was a challenge and enjoyed the responsibilty given to me to stretch myself and enjoy both working on my own and in a small team. I really enjoyed the year and would recommend everyone to do a placmenet.
