Since our founding in 1898, we have delivered to our customers:

- 36 metropolitan rapid-transit and rail systems
- 96 airports and airport systems
- More than 17,088 miles (27,700 kilometres) of highways and roads
- 100 tunnel projects with total length of more than 250 miles (440 kilometres)
- 30 major bridge projects
- More than 80 ports and harbours
- 50 hydroelectric power plants
Some of our iconic projects include Channel Tunnel, Athens Metro, High Speed 1, Jubail Industrial City and more recently the Crossrail project.
Our people are our product and without the talent we are unable to deliver these landmark projects to the communities we work in. Our graduates are very much part of the story in helping deliver these projects by working in the local areas to help raise awareness of studying STEM subjects with local schools. We are focussed on passing the knowledge from one generation to another and helping students realise the types of careers available for students interested in STEM related areas.

Here’s a quick look at three of them:
Stewardship Programme
This is a global employee resource group that has local chapters. In the UK, for example, employees can take part in initiatives such as the First Lego League, Young Enterprise and other charity events that help support young students.
Women @ Bechtel
We know that diversity is essential to building a strong company. So we run events that help people become more aware of the opportunities available to women within our business. This includes making senior managers accessible to staff through speed networking and other events. What’s more, we also run activities in the community to help inspire the next generation of female engineers.
NextGen
Our NextGen group has been designed to help graduates develop and grow within the organisation. We also want to enable you to create your own professional networks and to gain knowledge in different areas. How does NextGen do this? By organising various events, from Continued Professional Development talks with project directors, networking with senior managers, sporting activities, social events and the annual development meeting.
