Every day was structured including a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions with a strong concern to include Q&A sessions to make sure every information is clear. On the end of Day 1 a project gets assigned in teams of 5 that will be presented on the final day in front of a panel. Sufficient time during the week is allocated to do the project successfully. The access to the Terminal is very insightful!
The Insight Week involved a broad range of activities, from meeting the Analytics, Sales, and Data Science teams, discovering the Terminal's functions alongside their representatives, to creating a team project on a financial topic (in my case, on the pandemic's effect on commodities' prices). We also had some some activities brushing up on our public speaking abilities, a simulation of some tasks typical for a day at office, and a team-building activity.
The insight took place over a period of a week. The schedule mainly comprised workshops, where current employees took us through technical sessions eg. Global Data ESG data, with time at the end left for Q&A. At the beginning of the week, we were put into groups within which we would work on a group project. Throughout the week, we got to work on our projects and presented on the final day.
The Insight Week is designed to introduce us to the work and culture, connect us to diverse communities and help prepare us for your future professional career by educating us the main aspect in each of Analytics & Sales and Global Data Role. Also, introducing us to the Bloomberg terminal and the difference between Buy-Side and Sell-Side market players. There are also lots of activities planned such as the Escape Room, Toastmasters and Global Data/ Sales & Analytics activities utilising the Bloomberg terminal. Also, the opportunity to network with inspirational employees throughout the company, gain an insight into different areas of the daily work, build your professional skills as well as exploring future opportunities available.
- Started at 09:00, ended roughly at 17:00. - Worked on a project with your team (5/6 people per team). - Session with Toastmasters (working on public speaking). - Terminal training. - Got tested on your terminal knowledge and ability to work with clients. - Introduction to departments. - Network with Bloomberg employees. - Panel. - Network with peers through e.g. escape room.
5 days, 9-5 everyday with some breaks in between. Mostly listening to presentations on what you would need to know to work in analysis and sales/global data. Also some interactive activities involving an escape room, chat with customers simulation, public speaking. As well as working on a group presentation throughout the week. Also got access to a really great online market concepts course.
The week was structured in a very organised way. the timetable was detailed and clear. we would start at 9 am and finish at 5 pm. Every day we had the chance to hear insights from Bloomberg's current employees, understand their role and responsibilities. it was very useful to be able to understand the different departments within the company and connect with people to expand my personal network as well
I learned how Bloomberg uses dynamic data and analysis to deliver accurate, real-time business and market information to help its customers make financial decisions. Employees from various departments provided insight on their departments' objectives and how they work towards achieving their objectives. Successful past interns discussed their experiences and how they stood out during their internships. I did practical exercises and fun activities on the Bloomberg Terminal. Business Leaders spoke about their experiences.
During this Spring Insight Week, me and my colleagues were able to listen to insightful presentations from employees of different divisions. We could also participate in hands-on sessions to learn more about how the Global Data and the Analytics&Sales departments work, as well as having an overview of how the Bloomberg Terminal works by having direct access. We also worked in teams to develop a presentation about a specific industry, that was delivered on the last day.
