Working on the front lines of the business to build and maintain relationships with customers, channel their feedback into product development, and drive profit for the company. Ensuring clients are using the powerful functions on the Bloomberg Terminal to the best of their ability – and have the support they need to make big business decisions.
We mainly got to listen to several interesting presentations from people working in the company. We also got to participate in interactive exercises such as two toastmasters event and training exercises. We also had a lot of time to be dedicated to creating a group presentation.
It was mostly talks on different areas of the business, both regarding Global Data and Analytics and Sales. We also got sessions on the sell side and buy side, as well as ESG and Philanthropies in Bloomberg. All the sessions were very interactive and we got the chance to ask questions both during and after each session. We also did a chat simulation in the Terminal, which was a simulation of the role of an analyst who had to help out a costumer. Finally we had to pressent a group project and we had time to prepare for it throughout the week.
The Insight Week was a 5-day programme. Each day had a packed timetable, containing seminars from different employees at Bloomberg and also 'project time' dedicated to the planning of a group project due to be presented at the end of the week. We gained exposure to a variety of different departments who explained how their respective roles fit into Bloomberg's purpose.
Each day was slightly different, but overall they were structure so to involve presentations, time to work on our projects, interactive activities and Q and A sessions. Overall, it was very balanced between that theoretical and practical side, which made it very engaging.
Various sessions designed to provide more information about the the company's culture and values, departments (an overview of them, day-to-day responsibilities, practice exercises), and the Bloomberg Terminal. Additionally, participants had to collaborate in order to conduct research into a topic and present the findings as a group.
There were talks everyday from many different speakers from the various departments. I really enjoyed them found them very useful as they gave me a great high-level overview of the company. There were also some more technical talks, which were very interesting to hear about. The programme was organised very well, with breaks between some of the activities. Given it was online this year, I found that there was still a lot of interaction which was nice. Over the course of the week, there is also a group project which everyone enjoyed as we made use of the Bloomberg terminal.
During the insight week you get to know the departments within Bloomberg, how they work and how a typical day is structured. You also have the opportunity to meet employees from the different departments, who are always available to answer any questions or clarifications. There are also lots of fun and educational challenges, group work and team challenges. In conclusion, it is an opportunity to find out if Bloomberg is really for you, while you discover, enjoy and meet people from all over the world in a friendly environment.
The week provided an amazing insight into the Analytics and Sales and Global Data departments at Bloomberg. The days were filled with informative department presentations, independent time to work on an assigned group project, interactive activities such as the Phantom chat task, Toastmaster sessions to help improve presenting skills and Q and A sessions with the team leaders.
Heard from a number of employees over the course of the week offering insight into their departments and what the roles actually entail. This ranged from buy and sell-side players to analytics and sales professionals. A very holistic learning experience was provided as there was a wide variety of opportunities to interact in challenges and Q&A sessions.
Over the week we were acquainted with all the different departments of Bloomberg such as Global Data and Sales and Analytics. Every day we had sessions with people from these different departments. We also had sessions where we learned skills such as navigating and using the Terminal and answering clients on their issues. We were also given a project to work on as teams, for which we were allocated time every day.
I attended sessions and presentations about the various teams, the ins and outs of the work they do, including the software and functions they use, different job roles. I had access to the famous Bloomberg Terminal and got to explore using it through demos, simulation tasks, and during a group project. We had plenty of opportunities to ask lots of questions to the presenters and panelists. A truly fantastic and insightful experience!
The Insight week is by far the best programme that can introduce me to the work at Bloomberg and the culture there. It was a training programme around the products and services the company offers. We also learned Global Markets' basics and completed some demos as an analytics and sales professional at Bloomberg. We finally worked in teams to come up with the final presentation using data from the Bloomberg Terminal.
