I reported and wrote a wide range of news stories around economics, business and finance. Internship also involved working with others, for example when writing a joint byline or preparing for a press conference or event as a team (i.e. one person writes headlines, the other gets quotes etc.)
A very structured 10 weeks internship consisting of training sessions on all asset classes in Global Data where you are presented with a run through of their day to day tasks as well as projects they work on. Of course you learn a lot about many many Terminal functions used by specific teams as well as across teams. You also work on your individual project where you are guided by you mentor and buddy and have to present you findings by the end of the internship. you also shadow with people on your team and possible perform a reverse shadowing so you consolidate your knowledge of the asset class and the team.
- Attend training on basic analytics, complete exams after training. - Learning about tradedesk business and main functions, attend client training calls. - Participate in product campaign calls for tradedesk OMS products. - Work on different projects with enterprise product buy-side sales department.
I was a part of the fixed income corporate actions team. I worked on a business project where I did data analysis on operational data and then set up webscrapers to increase coverage of our existing product. I also worked on writing a published article on the financial markets.
Worked two days a week in Sales department, completing many projects. Created presentations on different customer types and key themes driving the asset management industry. Reached out to clients to share new tools and solutions, and gain intelligence on their workflow/structure of the company... Worked two days a week in Analytics department, completing trainings to learn more about finance, the terminal and more Bloomberg solutions. Also carried out phantom chats to practice assisting clients and made Product Deployment calls to clients to educate them about tools on the Terminal. Did calling campaigns on Friday.
In Sales, it was my job to call clients about different functionalities on the Bloomberg Terminal. Our aim was to ensure clients were getting the most out of their Terminal, and ensuring our clients had an overall positive experience of usage. In Analytics, we had lots of classroom-style learning sessions, product deployment calls, and training on how to answer client helpdesk queries.
As an Analytics and Sales Intern, I work across 2 client-oriented departments. In Analytics, we become experts of the terminal and asset classes, and provide 24/7 support for Bloomberg users all over the world and across multiple industries. In Sales, we develop strong relationships with our clients to understand their workflow and suggest solutions and products. Both roles involve a lot of calling and speaking to clients.
