I generally did enjoy working at Air Products, when I had work to do. I enjoyed the hands on work I have done as I have learnt many new skills. I also enjoyed learning about how engineering works in the real world which is always more complicated than at university. A lot of what I do is testing new equipment, which can sometimes be quite boring. Other times I had less work to do, which was also quite boring.
I highly enjoyed my placement year at Air Products! My work was varied and no two days were the same. My team and manager were very personable and easy to get along with making the whole experience that much better. The atmosphere in the office was also very friendly with a large placement and graduate community, with many opportunities to partake in activities at lunch such as football or running clubs as well as after work activities like going rock climbing.
I really enjoyed my time at Air Products, from my first day I was treated as another member of the team undertaking work which created real valve for the company. The social aspect of working in this company with many placement students and recent graduates was very good. The company has a positive forward thinking culture and there was a focus on opportunities for further training, particularly when it came to operations and office safety.
I really enjoyed my placement. I was a part of many different projects that, 'pre-covid', involved lots of travelling across the UK and Europe. My manager was great and would always try and give me as much experience with different parts of the business as possible. The work was challenging but enjoyable and I particularly enjoyed being able to apply my technical knowledge from university to solve real life problems Air Products were having on some depots.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at Air Products. The placement scheme and graduate community was welcoming and the atmosphere in the office was friendly. I was given a lot of responsibility over the year and was trusted to be independent. Nevertheless, help was always available when needed with a very ‘open door’ atmosphere.
I found my placement with Air Products very enjoyable. I was given challenging work and excellent support throughout the year. From the beginning I had real responsibility and was given genuine work that was valued by the team. The graduate council really contributed to how much I enjoyed the year, providing a great community of young professionals for guidance and advice.
I enjoyed the placement a lot because it gave me an opportunity to implement theory, I learnt at university, in practice. People were very helpful and happy to collaborate every day. There were also events outside work which gave a chance to meet employees from other departments and learn more about the company.
Working for air products was a very enjoyable experience. I very much enjoyed the varied nature of the work that I was given. My supervisor put a lot of emphasis on using the placement year to learn about the job I was doing which made it more enjoyable. My supervisor and manager were also very helpful throughout the year.
Very interesting initial role in a diverse area of the company, very much different from my degree but can definitely say that I have progressed in soft skils and technical areas due to the engineering nature of the company. The best part was the capability to take up other responsibilities along the way such as the Associate Outreach position and participate in many external activities and socials with colleagues.
The placement was a good opportunity to gain insight into the industrial gases sector. I had the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of tasks and also to be involved in outreach activities to promote STEM subjects. I learned a lot from this placement year and was able to undertake varying levels of difficult tasks
I did not enjoy my placement very much, the job title suggested it would be a technically challenging role however this could not be further from the truth. The work was often very simple and repetitive, requiring no critical thinking or decision making, it often consisted of waiting for work to be given to me which would often involve correcting a document or something along those lines.
I enjoyed my work placement a lot. The work that I did was mainly challenging and interesting, this made it satisfying to complete. I enjoyed getting to work as part of a team and really valued being able to go to my colleagues for help and feedback. I also loved getting involved with all the extra to work activities that the company facilitated.
I thoroughly enjoyed my year at Air Products. There was a wide variety of projects I was involved in, with a huge scope covering many areas of the customer engineering business. Due to the nature of my department everyday was different with new tasks and projects meaning there was never a dull moment. The skills I gained and knowledge I learnt mean I have returned to university a better engineer than before joining Air Products.
