Cherith Simmons Learning & Development was founded in 1989 by Cherith Simmons following a Managerial/Directorial career in the Civil Service and the Industrial Society. The organisation was founded on the belief that training and development needed to be more dynamic, tailored and based on detailed knowledge of clients operating environments and issues. We are a partnership based in Surrey but we operate nationally. Cherith Simmons was joined by Peter Waddell and Stephen Barrance as partners approximately 12 years ago. Both the latter have held top management positions in the private sector. To augment the training personnel we can draw on other experienced associates across a range of specialist areas.

Since its inception the company has concentrated on the public sector, which currently forms about 80% of its training activity. We offer a unique development resource, which really understands how the public sector works. Our clients include local authorities of all sizes, across all departments and we also have a substantial involvement with other public services, the NHS, the National Probation Service and voluntary sector organisations such as Action for Children. We are a provider to The House of Commons and a supplier of management development to Ofsted.

We are accredited by ILM (The Institute for Leadership & Management), City & Guilds, Kingston University, and the Chartered Management Institute.

We are members of the British Quality Foundation and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development
