I enjoyed the insight day very much and found that it helped me understand what happens at BDO and the type of work carried out by the firm. Everybody was very smiley and I enjoyed the encouraging of social activity between other members thatg had come to the insight day.
I enjoyed it to a large extent. I was well received by the staff, and the office reception were also friendly. There was a structured programme, with plenty of information and valuable insight shared by the current graduates in the firm.
The internship was very insightful and I was exposed to a wide variety of tasks and got to work with numerous different people within my team. All my colleagues made me feel very welcome and were open to answering any questions that I had about their experience at BDO so far. I would highly recommend anybody looking for a summer internship to apply to BDO.
I enjoyed the work - obviously as someone with little knowledge of accountancy before going in some of it was going to be confusing. However, seniors were very helpful in helping me figure out how to do the work asked of me. What was less enjoyable were the bookend weeks. The values of the firm were well communicated, and there were lots of fun activities in the evening, however I felt there was a lot of timewasting which left me a little frustrated.
I have enjoyed this insight day because it allowed me to develop many skills. It built up my confidence and allowed me to interact well with others. I liked that fact that we had group discussions, that way I gave across my ideas and also heard the views of others.
I enjoyed meeting other people who shared an interest in accounting and finance. During the insight we took part in several activities which allowed everyone to share their interests and reasons for attending. There were people from all over the UK at different stages in their careers all wanting to gain knowledge of BDO. I think the insight day did just that, by providing us with all the necessary information about BDO and listening to talks by current employees at BDO. The leader also talked about hints and tips when going through the application process which was useful if someone was to go ahead and apply. Although I did not go ahead with the application, I still believe the insight day was very successful as it informed that this role was not right for me.
I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to have an insight into what life is like working at BDO. It was great talking to some of the staff from those in higher positions to recent graduates; overall the day was really informative and I enjoyed all aspects of the insight day.
I really enjoyed the insight day and gained a better understanding of BDO and what services they provide. I particularly enjoyed getting to meet and interact with other likeminded students from not only an accounting background, but also from a range of different degree courses. The staff members were welcoming and friendly, and made me feel comfortable and at ease.
I really enjoyed the insight day it enabled me to learn more about the firm and the different parts of the network and the interplay between them. I also had the chance to meet other university students and network with BDO employees. All in all I had a lovely time.
A lovely lunch was provided with good quality food and lots of it which was nice but there wasn’t enough people who attended so eating it was awkward and conversation was stunted. I was the only A Level participant as the others were all university level so a wider range of ages would be better.
Hard work, helpful and friendly colleagues who were more than happy to assist when struggling. Did lack variety in places - often sat down in front of a computer for many hours. Enjoyable visiting client sites and interacting with them to get the information needed to carry out the audit correctly.
I found the internship insightful and engaging as for the six weeks I was only in the office for approximately too, working in various locations such as on sight with a client in Ilkley as well as Birmingham with a final presentation being given in the company’s main office in London
It was a unique opportunity for me to build a stronger understanding of a life in financial services. I did this effectively during these 6 weeks. I enjoyed every moment of this role, as I was provided with a great deal of responsibility, which enabled me to learn a great deal and build on my existing knowledge.
I enjoyed it thoroughly as it was very well planned with different colleagues from various departments coming into the board room to answer any of our questions. Furthermore, I enjoyed it so much that it has convinced me to apply to their summer internship programme.
Fully enjoyed the insight day - gained a greater understanding of accountancy and the different streams. Found it very useful and applicable to many areas, for example with the application process help this is transferable knowledge for the future. Only lacking a bit more networking and chatting to current trainees.
