I absolutely loved my year as a Finance Assistant at VWG. The year provided me with invaluable knowledge & skills which I can use in my future career. Every day was challenging and I have developed so much as a result of the year. If i could go back and do it all again I would!
I worked in two roles during my placement which gave me the opportunity to explore different aspect of the business. I enjoyed the level of responsibility I was given as well as the fact that my inputs and opinions were valued. I also enjoyed the breadth of learning and development opportunities on offer.
I really enjoyed my placement with Volkswagen Group UK during my year there. I was placed in a role where I was able to learn a large deal, and then was able to use what I had learnt over the remainder. My work was often used in important meetings, and I was often privy to not only experience them, but also play an active part.
I thoroughly enjoyed my year at Volkswagen Group UK Ltd, you get what you put in and there are plenty of opportunities for you to apply your university teachings and make a difference in your day to day role. As there is a large cohort of students both on the Undergraduate and Graduate Scheme there is a young feel in the business and after work. The learning and development on offer at VWG is excellent, I came out of my year with a range of qualifications that will help me in my future career.
In terms of personal development, I could not have asked for anything more. I was given a high level of responsibility and was immediately contributing to the effectiveness of my team. The programme itself is very well run, with an additional Undergraduate project that you complete in a different area of the business than your placement. The company is huge and so there is opportunity to network and form relationships with people in all different departments, which I was encouraged to do. However relocating to Milton Keynes brought some personal difficulties with it, effecting my overall score.
I enjoyed my year with the Volkswagen group, I received some great opportunities and took part in many social & sports circles. There was a very friendly culture within my department, which allowed me to settle in very quickly. Making friends around the business also makes your job a lot easier as you know more people that can help you if you’re stuck!
I really loved my time at Volkswagen Group. You are given a real job with real responsibility and have the opportunity to work with incredibly talented individuals, from whom you can learn a great amount from. As well as this the company offers a wide range of courses and developmental opportunities which I encourage you take, development is structured at the beginning and then it is up to you to book yourself on a wide range of courses, I thoroughly recommend these.
Overall, a great experience. I had lots of opportunities to shape the role to what I wanted to do over and above the mandatory tasks. MK was not nightlife central but London is not far away and I would encourage future undergraduates to take better advantage of London then I did. A return ticket is £13 with a railcard and includes all tube travel.
I believe that the experience offered to me was very exciting and I believe this was mainly regarding the SEAT Brand and my department. However, in the wider group, I felt I did not get that much exposure to as I would've liked. I was always busy and was always encouraged by my team to get involved in other tasks and events in each of the other different departments.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Volkswagen Group working specifically for Skoda. The responsibility I was given was immense and it was great doing something I was passionate about; Digital Marketing. I have learnt so much which can now be applied to my dissertation back at university. Volkswagen Group was great to network and build lasting relationships, not just in your own brand but others aswell around Volkswagen Group.
