Tesco developed a really interesting and exciting virtual programme, despite the little time they had to do so. We have had the opportunity to speak to a variety of people at all levels of the business and everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. The only improvement would be a better social side but this is expected given the internship now being virtual however they have still tried to integrate a more social aspect.
My Tesco internship ended up being virtual due to Covid-19. This meant the company had to adapt the programme as we were not able to carry out the work in the functions we had signed up for. Instead, they laid on projects that were about helping Tesco become more sustainable or helping the community. Despite it not being what I originally signed up for, I did enjoy my experience at Tesco. All the colleagues I came into contact with were lovely and everyone was very accommodating. It was bit of a struggle working at home, especially as it was quite independent, but I always felt supported and I think they did the best they could given the situation with Covid-19.
I had never experienced an online internship before but we quickly got up-skilled so there were no technical difficulties. Doing this virtually made it easier to meet lots of different people who I may not have met otherwise and gave us interns an easy platform to communicate and share research when working in teams. I have enjoyed the variety in sessions and the flexibility and support within the programme. One downside is that it is harder to socialise compared to in-person but this is the same everywhere due to the current pandemic.
I am really enjoying my virtual internship. I am amazed at how well Tesco has adapted to the current climate. The project is interesting and stimulating, and we have had the chance to meet so many senior members of the team, all of which are happy to help and answer any questions that we have. The internship has structure, and flexibility, so that each day is different whilst also giving you space to work on your project in your own time.
Tesco did an absolutely brilliant job of creating an insightful, interesting, and challenging virtual programme with very little time due to the pandemic. The work has been challenging at times but there has been a lot of support and everyone is keen to help.
I very much enjoyed my placement with Tesco. It challenged me while giving the support I needed to really earn invaluable experience which I was able to apply to my final year of university. The hot desking also meant that I got to get to know the team very quickly!
I loved working at TESCO as a supply chain intern. It gave me the social skills and confidence to kick on with my career, having previously been unsure about what I should do. Moreover, the supply chain industry is a dynamic one, undergoing a lot of digital transformation, and it was exciting to see how TESCO are coping with it.
I had a fantastic experience on my internship, which has been challenging but also very satisfying. My buddy manager has been a fantastic mentor, and my confidence over the course of the programme has really grown. The best part for me has been building good relationships with my team in store, who have been very supportive to me.
This internship is great for a real life insight into retail with a real sense of responsibility in one of the UK's biggest supermarket chain. I enjoyed being able to get to know many different people in various different roles as well as having the autonomy over my own project over the ten weeks.
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Tesco. I initially applied for Marketing, however got deferred to Online when all the interview spots for Marketing had been filled. I wasn’t sure what to expect prior to joining, as the job description provided on the website was very brief. However I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it.
My internship provided me with a breadth of skills and insight into the marketing world. At times I was left with little to do, but overall the experience was very enjoyable alongside a great culture. The Clubcard team immersed me into a place of marketing which I didn't know about but also was an integral part of the company
The internship was very enjoyable, although was not exactly what was advertised. It's a commercial internship, but you still do have contact with food. The responsibility you're given is huge considering that you're only an intern, which is enjoyable and challenging at times. Overall, it was a very good internship.
I really enjoyed the supply chain internship because I was given the responsibility to complete projects with potential to make real change in the business which was rewarding. The culture at Tesco is very relaxed and welcoming and people will always make time to talk to you which made the experience.
