At the beginning I was afraid that I would not have much interaction with my colleagues and won't receive enough support when needed. However, my Line Manager and all other colleagues have been really friendly and willing to help with whatever I needed. Furthermore, I had regular virtual social events (such as coffee catch ups, quizzes, solving riddles) and also had the chance to meet virtually some of the executives and directors of the company. All in all, this virtual experience has been one of a kind for me and I have fully enjoyed this learning experience.
I've really enjoyed my time on the Finance Internship, it was great to get an insight into finance at Tesco and it's made me aware of areas for development going forward and for finance graduate programmes. The most valuable aspect of the internship for me was speaking to the current finance graduates and hearing their career journeys and the ways they've managed the CIMA exams whilst working full time. Another really valuable aspect was meeting the Leadership & Executive team and hearing their career and success stories.
This virtual internship gave me a great insight of what it means to work for Tesco, what their values are and what a future career in Tesco would look like. I managed to meet many people from across the business that were happy to share their expertise and advice. I really enjoyed working on the hot topic of climate change, which gave me a greater boost in researching solutions for the business which could help combat this problem.
I was grateful to have an internship whatsoever due to covid. Everyone that worked for Tesco was very extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel as though we were part of the team. The business project was interesting and not quite what i expected. The fact that it was all virtual did make it a bit less enjoyable than i think it would have otherwise been. We did try and run some virtual social activities which helped.
It was very enjoyable! Initially it was a bit weird that everything was virtual, but as time went by we built strong connections online. We also had different fun challenges during the internship, such as a chance to create our own food love stories which was very fun!
The internship was extremely well structured and thought out. Despite being a virtual internship there was much opportunity for teamwork and collaboration, and we were given a lot of independence in the projects we were tasked with as well as support from around the company. With Q&As with the leadership team, as well as training workshops and presentations from various departments there was also a wide variety of virtual networking and insight into Tesco as a company.
Very enjoyable virtual experience. Despite the difficulty of cooperation and limitations of a virtual internship, Tesco managed to organise socials so we can get to know fellow interns online. Also had wellness sessions to keep us in check. Highlight of internship was doing yoga with fellow interns - great to see engagement and collaboration.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the internship this summer, learning a lot, working hard and progressing as an intern. We have had endless support and encouragement from the internship team leaders which has made us all feel welcomed. We have been encouraged to push our selves and apply our skills which has been enjoyable but also very crucial to our personal development. I would highly recommend this internship to everyone as it has been an amazing experience, and I appreciate the opportunity largely.
While it was not what I expected, being a virtual 6 week internship rather than the 10 week technology internship due to Coronavirus, I still enjoyed the experience and gained valuable insight into how Tesco operates and how the people who work there see the company, eachother and customers. There were a variety of Leadership skill training sessions where we learned valuable skills such as Resilience and Presenting with Confidence and these included fun activities such as a virtual escape room.
Considering it was the first time I had ever done something like this virtually, I would say it was very much enjoyable. It was very well organised with lots of social aspects too as that is probably the biggest downside of a virtual internship is not having in person interaction with other people. There was plenty opportunity to get to know people virtually.
It was enjoyable because Tesco ran a virtual internship instead of cancelling it, meaning that we were still able to get some experience. The content of the internship was different to what I applied for but considering the time they had to come up with a new internship idea, I think that it was really good. We conducted a research project with other interns and presented our research at the end of the internship. :)
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Tesco. It was great to get an insight of when into the financial backgrounds of Tesco. The internship team did a great job of making me and my fellow interns get most of the internship although it was virtual. The only reason why I haven't given this internship a 10/10 is simply because doing the internship virtually made it just a bit tougher to get a close-knit bond with my fellow interns but as I said, the internship team looking after us did an amazing job. I would easily do this internship again if they were in charge of it once again.
I absolutely loved the virtual internship experience because it showed me so much I did not know about and areas of the business I never knew existed. I was given so much responsibility and genuinely felt like my views and opinions on a range of matters were respected. I was given total support throughout my entire time with Tesco which made me feel at ease. :::Steve and Dannie::: set up a great programme and should be very proud of themselves.
I've loved my internship with Tesco. The culture is so welcoming, inclusive and helpful. I've really enjoyed working on the Sustainable Diets project and found it so interesting. I really like that the company is so excited to hear our ideas and that our ideas could become a reality at Tesco!
Was a great experience organised in really short order during COVID. Team trained the interns very well and the work enviro emend was friendly. They made efforts to make sure that everyone became friends even over video call and social events were set up so that we were comfortable with everyone. There was an opportunity for a lot of independent work but also networking. The work environment was quite relaxed so you could video call anybody in the company and talk with them about their job.
Tesco have gone above and beyond to ensure this years interns have the best internship experience possible- despite the unusual circumstances! I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tesco as well as gaining more insight into the business and culture. Tesco is a company I would love to work for in the future.
