About Tesco

At Tesco, we welcome individuality and uniqueness. We always want our colleagues to feel they can be themselves at work and we’re committed to helping them be at their best. We’re building an inclusive workplace, a place to actively celebrate the cultures, personalities and preferences of our colleagues who share the same purpose, to serve our customers a little better every day, and you’ll have a unique part to play.

You’ll be encouraged to try new things, push yourself and learn from mistakes while you get hands-on experience. You’ll have access to a wide variety of workshops and resources, online or at our on-site training academy, to help you develop skills like presenting with confidence and effective influencing, as well as looking after your wellbeing. And don’t worry, you’ll be supported throughout your 10-week internship by your manager and your buddy – they were in your shoes not so long ago!

Throughout your internship, you’ll be encouraged to develop skills and gain experience that will support you in your future career. You’ll also receive valuable feedback on how you’ve performed during your 10 weeks to help understand your strengths and areas to develop further.

Salary and benefits - We offer our interns a competitive salary of £18,000 - 20,000 pro rata, depending on the programme. During your internship, you’ll get four days' holiday and free, on-site gym membership!

What it’s like working here – The office is a relaxed and friendly environment, with a casual dress code. We have flexible work spaces and places to enjoy down-time with colleagues, like sports pitches and cafes. You’ll get a laptop, so you can work anywhere on campus and from home.

Learning path – You’ll build your skills for the future with real-life experience, workshops and resources, as well as support and mentoring from your colleagues. Our on-site training academy makes it easy to take advantage of learning sessions – from quick Lunch and Learns to more in-depth courses.

Health and wellbeing – We want to inspire and help colleagues to look after their mental and physical wellbeing, so they can feel great at work and at home. You’ll have access to resources developed in partnership with experts such as Mind, The Sleep School, Nuffield Health and the British Nutrition Foundation.

We have a range of undergraduate opportunities, including our new Business Diversity internship, which will give you real-life experience in a key area of our business, building valuable skills to support your future career. You might prefer to gain hands-on specialist experience in finance or technology, including projects across software engineering, programme and product.

  • Climate Change Intern

I was amazed by how much detail goes into any decision, and was amazed by the ins and outs of a retailer. I really appreciated the opportunity of role rotation within the business, giving you the opportunity of exploring different aspect of the business. After this internship I would definitely consider taking on a role within Tesco or the retail industry....

  • Finance Internship

At the beginning I was afraid that I would not have much interaction with my colleagues and won't receive enough support when needed. However, my Line Manager and all other colleagues have been really friendly and willing to help with whatever I needed. Furthermore, I had regular virtual social events (such as coffee catch ups, quizzes, solving riddles) and also had the chance to meet virtually some of the executives and directors of the company. All in all, this virtual experience has been one of a kind for me and I have fully enjoyed this learning experience....

  • Financial Analyst Intern

I've really enjoyed my time on the Finance Internship, it was great to get an insight into finance at Tesco and it's made me aware of areas for development going forward and for finance graduate programmes. The most valuable aspect of the internship for me was speaking to the current finance graduates and hearing their career journeys and the ways they've managed the CIMA exams whilst working full time. Another really valuable aspect was meeting the Leadership & Executive team and hearing their career and success stories....
