I loved learning about the rail industry and all the different areas that combine to make trains run. I was able to learn from many different people during my time at Siemens and each of them taught me something new. I had a comprehensive view of what everyone in the office was doing and how it was important to the rail industry.
It was enjoyable to learn about the how the department functions and the different roles within the department, however most of the tasks I was given were not particularly engineering based in terms of how they linked back to what I'd learnt at university. They did help me understand better how the company functions as a whole.
I really enjoyed this internship as I got to see the many aspects that go into project engineering for railway signaling. I attended meetings and got to write reports. I was also taken to locations on track to see the components and the systems in place.
I enjoyed aspects of my work, I was placed in an engineering department that I had already spent time working with for a university dissertation last year. Some of my work was therefore carrying on with this project - which was useful to the company which was satisfying to know My other work was more interesting than this project and I enjoyed it more as it allowed me to research and report new findings to the company.
I enjoyed my placement due to the variety of challenging projects I was faced with. The people I worked with in this placement were enjoyable to be around and made a fun environment to be in. At times however, there was a lack of workload which caused the days to drag.
I thoroughly enjoyed my summer placement at Siemens Lincoln. Everyone in the Lincoln site are particularly friendly and always willing to help. My colleagues in the office I was working in were always there to help and were always willing to spend time with me to point me in the right direction if ever I was stuck.
very much over the time of the placement I've learnt more in three weeks than in seven years of education, I've found that the industry i am going into id completely different to the degree I'm doing, i feel the placement is preparing me for the work place in the way no educational system can do.
It was good, I mostly stayed busy and had a lot of work to do, the department was friendly and helpful and there was flexibility in hours. I enjoyed the canteen - the food was good - and free drinks machines, the IT equipment was good - and the location was perfect for me.
I am surprised by how much I enjoyed my internship; I absolutely loved every day as the variety of work I was assigned and the interest each of the tasks generated was simply huge. There was never a dull moment! The work was fascinating and its immediate impact on the success of the company and the progress of research was always made clear to me and added much significance to my project.
I really enjoyed my placement as I was treated as a real engineer, given the opportunities to work on real projects with large implications. I was also given the opportunities to learn and expand my knowledge, which meant many projects were dynamic and evolved over time, compared to being given set tasks for the entirety of my placement.
Co-workers were welcoming and helpful, which meant work began quickly. I felt like the work I was doing was productive and useful. The work was the right level of challenge for my level of knowledge, and I was able to work independently for much of the project, and help was readily available if needed.
My Summer internship has been engaging throughout as I have been working on a project which has lasted the full duration. I have had to host and attend many meetings, as well as perform a presentation for 50+ people. I have gained valuable experience from this placement and feel as though I have gained a full insight into the quality department at Siemens.
Incredible experience for a person who has had a limited insight into the corporate environment. I not only impressed the people around me but more importantly I impressed myself on the progress I made and the achievements I have obtained over the year. I will keep this experience very close to my heart in the future and channel all the things I learnt over the past year.
I have really enjoyed working for Siemens for the past 11 months as an intern. The opportunity for this experience has been very different to an educational life and has been exciting with new experiences daily. Reason it is not 10 is because the management for intern scheme could be improved, especially in the first month of joining the business.
I was given a wide variety of projects to work on which involved working with different departments of the company. My primary role was involved in research and development, but I was also able to be involved in other projects to become more familiar in different areas. The work was interesting and challenging, and has definitely proven beneficial.
The first few weeks were slow starting due to a lack of guidance and support. However after this period I was placed into a new department and I have thoroughly enjoyed my work throughout the rest of the year. My work has been interesting, challenging and rewarding. I would recommend to any student to take on a work placement or internship as they are so valuable towards your future career and CV.
