There was consistently interesting work to do, and I enjoyed working in a team where the code I wrote was actually released and used by customers with just a couple of weeks turnaround. Flexible working hours and friendly colleagues meant I never felt overly pressured or stressed.
Very much so. The work I did was very interesting and I learnt a lot about developing software and telecoms. The company found accommodation for all the interns (we were all staying in a flat in the centre of Coventry) and there was a very good atmosphere. The best week however was the 'vacathon' (vacation + hackathon). This took place over a week where they bought all the interns to their Enfield office and we were given nearly free reign to create any product which has a link to telecoms.
Overall I've found the experience very enjoyable and would definitely recommend it to other people considering applying here. Throughout the two months I've been here I've been given some interesting tasks to do that I've enjoyed a lot and that will provide a lot of value in the future. The company have been very helpful in general and have arranged events for the interns throughout the time.
I can honestly say that I found Metaswitch a great place to work. The work was challenging and interesting; the ethic was always constructive and open, without any office politics. People were friendly, and the office was genuinely fun (some people even used to toss soft balls across the office during their breaks!) I learnt a lot throughout the process, and the support for interns was fantastic, ensuring from the first interview to the end that my opinion was taken on board and I gained the most from the process.
I definitely enjoyed my internship at Metaswitch, the work was interesting and varied, the attitude in the office was quite relaxed and there were no strict rules so you could come in at 10 o'clock if you wanted to. The extra activities outside of work like sports and games were also enjoyable, and it was easy to engage with current employees.
Overall the internship is a great mixture of enjoyable and challenging. The company seems to genuinely value its interns and you are given work which you can really get your teeth into. At the same time it is not super high pressured and activities aside from work are great fun.
The internship is thoroughly enjoyable, relaxed workplace culture, interesting work that is immediately useful to the company, great learning opportunities, manager who gives clear direction, constant feedback and technical guidance, intern trainings and social activities, beautiful town within 30 min train travel of London, comfortable company house within 10 min to walk, I would recommend it to anyone looking for an enriching summer.
I found my internship at Metaswitch a really worthwhile experience. I came to the company with very little programming experience, but I really enjoyed all the learning opportunities that my internship offered and the fact that I got to work with very friendly and very passionate people.
I had interesting work to do, and it was relevant to what other team members were doing, so it felt 'real'. It was nice having my own project to take responsibility for. Metaswitch clearly value, and invest a lot in their employees - this includes their interns, and I felt like I was part of the team. The office was friendly and laid back, and there was also a good social scene with the other interns (I was in the Enfield office).
It was an enjoyable experience. I completed a pretty challenging extended coding project and improved my understanding of many important programming concepts. I also enjoyed giving team talks and presentations about my work to other members of my team. This helped me develop my communication skills. The workplace environment was very pleasant and social activities took place very regularly
The internship as a whole was immensely enjoyable. Having essentially zero prior experience with software, I came in with a few trepidations but these were quickly put to rest by the relaxed, informal atmosphere and the sheer level of support provided by my manager and colleagues.
