I knew it since the very beginning that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, Metaswitch has a great work culture and you will find their plenty of smart people. There were always events coming in, beer every time someone joined, sports event, hackathon and other morale events. It had been a great experience, definitely recommended to anyone that is considering a career in the IT sector.
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Metaswitch Network's Edinburgh office. Everyone in my team was super friendly and helpful, provided great support and was really patient with me. I started my internship with minimal programming experience, and finished the internship knowing so much more - something that would not have been possible had I been in a different environment.
I reasonably enjoyed it. The work atmosphere was good and the project I worked on allowed me to take responsibility and develop it further. Where I was living was central enough that there were things to do (a gym nearby and park to go running) and other interns to socialise with.
In general I found the placement enjoyable. The work was mostly fairly interesting, although could be slightly frustrating or tedious at times. This is probably varies between teams and people though. The atmosphere in the office and social events were brilliant, the company is very relaxed and clearly values morale very highly, so the non-work stuff was always great.
The placement provided me with valuable skills. I also gained a lot industry knowledge. Metaswitch hired me without requiring any prior experience in programming and the trained me up from scratch. The culture was also very nice, there were no politics and everyone was happy to help. The company organises a lot of social activities and employees have good work-life balance.
I did really enjoy my internship. I felt welcomed by my colleagues and learnt a lot about coding and working in a big company. I also had a lot of fun doing extra non-work activities with my colleagues. Sometimes I felt like I wasn't pushed quite as hard as I would have liked, but I think I still gained a lot from the experience.
I really enjoyed my internship. The team I worked in were really welcoming and gave me plenty of interesting and engaging work to do. The work I did was directly incorporated into the product which made it easier to put in more effort to deliver high quality pieces of work.
I found the work really interesting and my mentor was always making an effort to make sure I had things to do that were interesting, but that I wasn't struggling too much. I was given flexibility to choose in what direction I wanted to take my project which helped make it more enjoyable.
Interning at Metaswitch is a very rewarding experience. The company spends a lot of time and effort organising social events to help you feel welcome. The work itself is very interesting, and anyone who enjoys problem solving will have a good time working here. There are a large number of interns (~30) and so there are lots of people to enjoy the free drinks with!
Working for Metaswitch was great, mostly because I felt I fitted in well with the atmosphere and work ethic. The work was interesting for the most part and my manager was always motivational. There were a couple of dull days but overall the work was varied and challenging and I could imagine working here.
