I was given a variety of projects over the 12 months. P&G works with a "5 rock" system which to non P&G'ers means 5 projects. These can range depending on your role. I had a project management role so my biggest "Rock" was Project Management. The work can be fun but there's a lack of teamwork.
From the day you start you are responsible for a variety of different projects, and you are given the freedom to lead them as you see fit. Some may be independent, but most rely on communication and speaking to those globally to understand and effectively manage your work. I can honestly say that there has not been a day go by in P&G where I have felt I have had nothing to do, and the work is hard, but it also drives you to perform and work to the best of your capability. I can say I thoroughly enjoyed most elements of my work, being involved in the design and development of IT Solutions, building capability in the UK for my teams methodology, and bringing forward change.
My one year placement at P&G was a very interesting experience that I really enjoyed. It allowed me to not only grow as a professional, but also as an individual. From day one I was involved in various projects and teams, which helped me to further expand my knowledge and develop my skills.
I loved my internship at P&G. I was due to complete a 12 month IT internship in Newcastle. As I had already graduated I was looking to secure a full time position and the only way I could do that was by completing the internship. I was rolled over to a full time position after 3 months.
Due to Procter&Gamble being one of the most interesting marketing firms in my opinion, I was very curious and had kind of high expectations. These have been fully fulfilled. Of course, I cannot know about my opportunity cost but I could not really imagine any other case in which my time is better spent.
I absolutely loved my internship. From start to finish the faith that the company had in me was empowering. I felt valued and trusted and this is testament to the work that P&G invest in their 'people first' approach. I was given large scale opportunities enabling me to grow way beyond my role.
I really enjoyed my internship with Procter & Gamble. From day one I was given accountability for supplying 5 brands with one of the UK's major retailers. Over the course of 15 months I progressed and finished the placement in the role of Availability Leader, responsible for service and on-shelf-availability for the entire brand portfolio. There was never a dull moment and I was always able to collaborate as part of team when tackling problems.
Completing a placement at P&G was a great experience. There was always so much going on within the office which I could get involved in. I was able to own my own processes and make improvements to these which was very rewarding. There were so many projects and teams which I could get involved in and every day was different and I was learning something new. P&G do a lot of charity work so I had opportunities to volunteer and see how the money we had raised was benefiting the charities.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at P&G, it has gave me a huge insight into the business world and a stepping stone towards my future career. P&G have been such a rewarding company to work for and have provided me with continued support throughout to aid my skill development.
My Placement at P&G was a fantastic experience that has prepared me significantly for the future. It has enabled me to develop vital transferrable skills, built my confidence, grown my knowledge of supply chain management and customer service and was ultimately a fun and enjoyable year.
I am glad i chose to do the placement program but there are parts which let the experience down such as been left out of vital business trips to go meet clients. Also i didn't feel the support at some stages of the internship and didn't feel that others would help share the workload even though i helped others with their work. I did find the experience depressing and too stressful at some points.
