My time at PA Consulting was hugely enjoyable because there was a very supportive atmosphere for interns in which to thrive. They really treat interns as potential hirees and that is reflected in the fact that so many interns return to work full time for them, although I did not take up their offer. All employees are genuinely interest in the work at PA Consulting - where consultancy services to improve public sector performance is provided.
I had the most amazing time at PA Consulting. I learned skills that I will be able to apply when going back to university and for my future work life. The placement offered the perfect balance of challenge and support and let me shape my time with the company depending on my interests.
I had a great time at PA Consulting. The work was interesting and very challenging but by the end of the internship I was very happy with the progress I had made and the results I had produced (and PA were too!). I think PA offers a great environment not only to improve your soft skills but also serves as an exposure to new technologies.
The internship was well structured. I was able to work on two projects, of which I was entrusted with high levels of responsibility with both. The colleagues are great, everyone is extremely approachable, and will provide support throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend the internship for anyone looking to get into consulting, and enjoy having their abilities pushed.
At first I was worried that an 11 week long internship would be too long, especially as many of my friends with internships were only doing 6-8 week stints. However 8 weeks in I was glad that I had not reached the end! The company has a very welcoming culture and is full of interesting people who are exciting to be around.
I was mostly working in the Business Intelligence space, which fitted well with the previous University units I picked. The opportunities were vast, and I was able to explore my interests. I had exposure to client work, and traveled occasionally to client offices. I went on 11 training and workshop courses covering: PA's methodologies and ways of working, requirements, writing and interacting, and technology specific ones for QlikView and Qlik Sense. I worked closely with a Partner and was given a good level of responsibility.
