I enjoyed it a lot! Whilst obviously not as in-depth as a 'normal' internship, it definitely felt as if Nomura tried their best to provide us with a well-rounded and engaging programme, and didn't skimp on any aspects. I felt that overall it was a fairly good balance of being challenging, but not impossible. I certainly enjoyed working with other interns, as I met lots of interesting people who were able to challenge my views and teach me new things.
Really amazing experience! An absolute credit to everyone who managed to organise the first virtual internship at Nomura. I can say that I absolutely loved it and thought that the experience was not brought down by the fact it was virtual. Everyone made such an effort to help the interns throughout the 5 weeks and I learnt an incredible amount in the short time. Weekly presentations made it possible to get to know the other interns and speak to many areas of the business.
The summer internship at Nomura International PLC has been amazing in my opinion. I had the chance to meet many other guys with whom I has the opportunity to speak and share ideas even if virtually. Moreover, the human resources team did a great job in setting everything up in the best way possible. The training we did at the beginning of the summer internship has been super useful and the teaches very helpful. I would recommend doing a summer intersnhip at Nomura!
Nomura organized an excellent 5-week virtual internship. The first two weeks comprised of training while the last three involved working within our allocated teams and on a personal project. I learned a lot during both phases of the programme and received an accurate insight into Investment Banking. We were given relevant tasks and were smoothly integrated into the team. During the programme we also had several calls with senior bankers as well as several socials with the intern class.
I found that the work provided was very engaging, the internship had been impressively adapted to the virtual enviroment. In terms of the work itself, we were given weekly group projects to work on until the Friday were we would give a presentation about the project to the business representatives. Each week we focussed on a different division within technology so I found that the projects all varied hugely and you could see how they were relevent to the particular division we would be looking at.
The internship was very enjoyable - the opportunity to collaborate with interns on different desks in group projects made the work quite social and interactive. This then prompted us to reach out to other desks for advice or help and so learn about a variety of different products and roles. The first week of the internship was training by an external company, iBank, and this was also very enjoyable and overall useful to the internship experience.
Despite the internship being virtual, Nomura made every effort to ensure the interns had a great experience. The training provided by FinancialEdge was well structured, content-wise very good and given by enthusiastic instructors. Following the two weeks training, we had at the desk work experience for three weeks in a team that we could select prior via a sort of virtual placement fair. In the three weeks at the desk, the recruitment team and our own teams ensured that we had video meetings with all the seniors for about an hour at a time and the juniors hosted virtual drinks every week to chat in a more informal manner. The team supported the interns in every way possible. They were very eager to help with any questions or tasks you might struggle with.
I really enjoyed the experience. The firm managed to produce a well organised internship although it was virtual and of a shorter length. Still, the training was coherent and allowed us to gain significant insight into the sector and to the work that we would be doing. The time on the desk was valuable and really allowed us to learn a lot, and I think interns would have been given more work if the internship was longer as we were given time to prove our abilities.
I really enjoyed my internship. I had the opportunity to interact with a lot of different people, from which I learned a lot. We had a lot of training on various topics which allowed us to gain valuable skills. All the people at Nomura were welcoming and very helpful. We also had a lot of interactions with the other interns through several group project, which also gave us exposure to the various businesses at Nomura.
