I thoroughly enjoyed the entire 5 days at Rothschild. It was a good mix of Networking and Insight into the company. A big focus was on the differentiation of Rothschild; the family, the work culture and the advisory-only model. Access was given to the entire executive structure with frequent contact with analysts and directors. Emphasis was also put on the Project Work that we were given (preparing a pitch for a hypothetical M&A deal). This was a great way to
The Spring Week was extremely enjoyable, and struck a good balance between work and fun. We were given a series of presentations by senior employees in different divisions (M&A Advisory, Debt Advisory, Equity Advisory, Private Wealth etc.), as well as workshops on general business skills (presentation, body language etc.). What is probably the most unique part of the Spring Week was the half-day volunteering session with Body & Soul, where the interns worked together with HR representatives to set up a 'fantasy forest' for children.
The insight week was a fantastic opportunity which I thoroughly enjoyed. A series of talks and presentations, from internal and external sources, explained the different parts to Rothschild and the technicals behind M&A and investment banking in general. In addition to the work aspects, the insight was balanced well with social elements such as afternoon tea with employees in different positions. Moreover, we spent a week volunteering with Body and Soul which was incredibly exciting whilst also rewarding. The culture of Rothschild has resonated with me and I would love to work here in the future!
I enjoyed the insight thoroughly. It was a great opportunity to explore the industry and to learn a lot about Rothschild and Co. and what makes them significantly different to their competitors. There was a lot of exposure for students to meet professionals at all levels, from junior analysts to directors, which was a great opportunity to gather different professional perspectives on banking related issues.
I found the Spring Insight at Rothschild highly enjoyable! The small group size of 25 spring interns is a great advantage, as this creates a strong community by the end of the week and you become friends easily with a number of very exciting people. The packed agenda is somewhat exhausting, but every day is completely different - you never get bored. I was surprised how serious Rothschild takes its commitment to CSR, because even the Spring Insight contains a couple of hours of volunteering (lots of fun and it's great to get to know the fellow interns outside the office atmosphere as well). Something that could be improved is the schedule of talks and workshops - long talks after lunch made us sleepy... Overall, definitely one of the most exciting weeks of my year!
The week was very well structured. The project was set at a good difficulty level. I learned more than I was expecting to. The other interns were clearly highly motivated and intelligent individuals but without an overly-competitive edge which made for a very positive working environment. Overall it was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend it.
The Spring Week gave an excellent overall insight into the operations and culture of the firm as a whole. Rothschild put a lot of effort into the Spring Week - to make sure we are exposed to all the divisions within Rothschild, but also gave us enough information to be prepared for the interview a few weeks down the line. The company also gave us plenty of opportunities to network with employees ranging from analyst to directors. We also had the opportunity to work with Body&Soul (a charitable organisation) for two hours decorating a nursery area, using our creativity. By far the best placement I have had the pleasure to be on, out of the 8 I have experienced so far.
The Insight was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about Rothschild & Co and explore the industry that I would like to enter once I complete my studies. The programme had a unique structure to it and was packed with exciting and challenging activities that kept me engaged throughout the week.
Enjoyed it thoroughly. I wanted to learn more about the Global Advisory Division at Rothschild as well as the firm as a whole and the Insight Programme was planned with activities tailored towards this. Activities included presentations, case studies, networking events, job shadowing and a group project. Most importantly, everyone at the firm was very friendly and willing to help, which made the programme even more enjoyable.
This was quite clearly the single best Spring Week in any investment bank that any one I knew had attended. Not only was the learning intense and exhilirating, everyone on the programme was incredibly fun and helpful, and the activities were all meaningful and well arranged. I had an amazing time, and whether or not I manage to work here in future, I will definitely remember it fondly. Even the after party events were great, and I will always remember binging, boozing and eating well at Rothschild's expense, including that final champagne party right before we left the building.
I found the internship very enjoyable as I was given responsibility from the first day. There was rarely a time when I was bored or had no work to do and thus I had a lot of exposure during the length of my placement. I was also given a lot of guidance as well an increasing amount of responsibility as the internship progressed. This ensured that I kept doing and learning new things about the industry and the job.
