The internship exceeded my expectations. I was given real responsibility and trusted to deliver Analyst-level work, thus I was challenged to move up the learning curve quickly. This meant that I gained real insight into how we prepare work for clients and the work was always intellectually stimulating. The internship was organised very well - very good introductory week with useful training sessions to equip us with skills to deliver good work at the desk; well-spaced and well-timed social events and the right balance between intern events and team socials; opportunities to catch up with team leaders and HR to receive and offer feedback; and good clarity on expectations from ourselves and for the future. The work was intellectually challenging; the intern group were stellar; and the variety of work meant I gained excellent commercial knowledge, a variety of technical skills and general work ethic skills.
Overall I really enjoyed my work, as I was given exposure to interesting live projects and pitches from day one, with a good degree of responsibility for my own work whilst still having plenty of colleagues to turn to for support. Rothschild's deal flow has the effect that you get exposure to a broad spectrum of transactions, which makes the work varied and interesting day-to-day.
Great insight overall. I attended a series of informative presentations regarding the firm's different functions - these included: Debt & Restructuring Advisory, Wealth Management & Trust and Global Financial Advisory. Aside from the presentations, there were also ample opportunities to network with current employees.
Enjoyed it immensely! It was very evident that the HR team took great care to ensure that everything was planned well and would be enjoyable and insightful for the spring interns. The insight ranged from the conventional firm presentations and work shadowing, to quirkier things like a volunteering day which was very well-received by all the interns.
I really enjoyed the insight and I learned lots about each different team within the M&A department. I particularly enjoyed the volunteering aspect, giving advice to year 11 pupils with an interest in banking and how to best pursue this interest. The group project on researching and presenting a hypothetical merge of 2 given companies gave a real flavour of the type of work an analyst does.
My five days at Rothschild were fantastic. Everyone at Rothschild, including the other Spring Interns, were intelligent and friendly. The week was jam packed with talks, presentations, networking sessions, skills training sessions and work shadowing opportunities. The program gave me an insight into Rothschild as a firm and its culture, and the team project was rewarding and a great learning experience.
Loved it! Very interactive and useful. It consisted of several talks and introductions to investment banking (M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, and Restructuring), work shadowing sessions with analysts in two different teams, technical training with FitchLearning, case studies such as Coca-cola and Alfa IPO, assessment centre workshops and a case study presentation.
I thought the internship was really enjoyable. Obviously, it's difficult to estimate how much work you'll be allowed to do during an internship, but I felt as if I gained a lot of exposure to a lot of different areas of work. The people were great, and I was treated well. I couldn't have asked for much more.
