Overall, it was a very enjoyable and well organised insight program which allowed for team-building, individual work, introductions to all divisions of Rothschild & Co. and work shadowing. The fast-paced nature of the program combined with the variety of activities scheduled provided for an interesting and very useful/informational experience and introduction to the company values and culture.
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme as it was an extremely insightful few days which allowed me to gain a much further insight into a career in investment banking, specifically at Rothschild & Co.. I also loved the fact that we were able to shadow bankers, as this is something that is rare for a short insight programme.
The insight provided a very good overview of Rothschild&Co's divisions. Presentations were given on each (M&A, Debt Advisory, Equity Advisory, Wealth and Asset Management). We were also able to shadow analysts in different divisions to see what they did on a daily basis and ask them any questions we had.
It was a really enjoyable programme - a very packed 3 days but something which was really useful to gain insight into all the practice areas of the firm, as well as the culture at Rothschild & Co. It was very well organised so I felt engaged at all points throughout.
Everyone else doing the internship was easy to get on with and supportive of each other - HR made it clear to us that there were more spaces on the summer internship than there were spring interns, so that we were in no way competing with each other for places, which definitely helped to bring about this atmosphere. Fun events such as intern drinks on the first day were organised. The team project was enjoyable to work on, and although we sometimes had to work late to perfect it, this was almost representative of what an analyst job would involve.
I really enjoyed the depth of knowledge that the insight week provided. There's only so much you can Google about a company or firm, but having the opportunity to really learn about the different business lines in a first-hand experience was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the people who were also on the programme, as they also made the experience fun and interactive, which I thought was great.
Very hands-on experience with the best training of the firms I've done spring insight programmes at. The learning on the job through the group project was one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Great balance with volunteering event, networking with employees/work shadowing opportunities and social events with the rest of the other spring interns.
The internship was an amazing experience. The intern class was very well selected and cooperative, the employees went out of their way to welcome us and ensure we took away as much as possible from the internship and HR were great at organising events. Overall, a great experience with a lot learnt!
On top of my everyday tasks that allowed me to explore my degree on a more practical, real-life level through intense exposure to a variety of transactions, I also enjoyed getting to know the team on a social level and through fundraising activities. More specifically, I particularly enjoyed the Fundraising Intern Challenge which allowed me to further my team-building skills and be innovative with fundraising ideas. It was also inspiring to hear Vice Chairman of Rothschild & Co talk about purposeful business and the importance of giving back to the community. The culture of the firm very much suits what I am looking for in a firm as it combines excellent work with corporate responsibility. I also enjoyed the team learning sessions which exposed me to people from other divisions and gave me a better understanding of different industries. What I enjoyed the most was how effective Rothschild & Co is with giving detailed feedback and on how to implement it on a practical level. Finally, the social events were great such as karting, which took place outside the office and involved a lot of teamwork – it was so much fun! I could not have wished for a better internship experience!
Better than expected! Provided me the opportunity to work with nearly everyone in the team, as well as senior members such as AD’s and D’s. HR/Recruitment team provided me with guidance ever since my first interview up to the present day which I couldn’t be more grateful for. They also held amazing events such as Go-Karting and various different drinks events throughout the internship which is highly appreciated!
I have really enjoyed being able to have great exposure to the senior bankers at the firm as well as the clients. Moreover, I was staffed on a very interesting deal where I was able to attend client meetings. I have worked with really inspiring and great team through the internship
