It was really insightful not only because there were lots of honest and informative seminars given by both the graduate recruitment team and the lawyers there, but also because the trainees whom we shadowed were willing to let us try out some of the work that they were doing. I really appreciate the effort Hogan Lovells has put into the scheme. It is clear that Hogan Lovells really wishes to recruit potential but also people who would treat Hogan Lovells as a place for personal growth.
The insight exceeded all expectations. I was nervous prior to the Vac Scheme about how much I would be expected to know, however the supervisors were really happy to answer questions and trainees were always around to offer help. Grad recruitment were also really supportive in ensuring you were enjoying the Scheme and knew where to go and when.
I really enjoyed my two weeks at Hogan Lovells. I was given real work that trainee solicitors would do, from trainees, partners, and associates. There were also regular social events, workshops and presentations which helped me understand both the work the firm does and the kind of people who work there. Most of all I was treated like a coworker rather than just a student.
I really enjoyed my time at Hogan Lovells. It was extremely insightful, and confirmed my passion to go into law. Everybody was extremely friendly which meant I felt comfortable during my time at the firm and I got on with all of the employees extremely well. There was a perfect balance of time between socialising and gaining a better understanding of the culture of the firm with skills and information workshops to develop out knowledge of the law.
The programme was carefully thought through and contained the ideal mix of work and social events. There was also a great combination of vacation scheme students, and I enjoyed the teamwork aspects of our assessed presentation. My goal was to get an insight into the culture and atmosphere of the firm and my expectations were exceeded in that regard.
The vacation scheme at Hogan Lovells was very enjoyable and extremely helpful. I had the opportunity to experience a wide range of contentious and non-contentious work as well as gain some insight into business development. At the same time there were numerous networking events, information and training sessions and some excellent social events. Overall I developed a thorough understanding of what it means to work at the firm as well as what solicitors engage with on a day to day basis.
The Spring Vacation Scheme confirmed my desire to pursue a career at Hogan Lovells. Being involved in real-life, cutting edge work and being in the same departments where huge deals were taking place put the prospect into reality. Being given the opportunity to network with a range of representatives from the firm to build new contacts and to gain hints and tips really highlighted to me that the firm was interested in me as an individual, and my future. The week provided me with exposure to numerous areas of the law and the opportunity to develop a myriad of skills. This allowed me to make some great friendships. I can't wait to be back.
Having the opportunity to spend a week at Hogan Lovells was an invaluable experience. While there I learnt very much about the culture of the firm and also what the the solicitors and trainee solicitors do on a daily basis. Everyone at Hogan Lovells were very friendly and approachable. They answered any questions we had and they had prepared some very useful skills sessions which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed the mock interview sessions and also my time with the trainees.
I really enjoyed the insight. There was a wide range of different workshops including: work shadowing, legal sector talks, case studies and a greater insight into what makes the firm unique. The people at Hogan Lovells were friendly, approachable and answered all questions in a detailed manner. This does not just include the legal employees but the catering staff, graduate recruitment and reception.
The vacation scheme was incredibly well run and gave a broad, extensive experience as to what working at Hogan Lovells would be like. We able to sit in three different seats during the scheme, so it offered a truly broad spectrum of the practice areas. There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in interesting work The scheme was complemented with great socials.
I really enjoyed this vacation scheme - I thought it provided valuable insight into the firm and into the type of work it undertakes. It involved sitting in and getting to know a different department each week as well as getting involved in a number of workshops and socials.
The insight was very enjoyable. The Graduate Recruitment Team and lawyers at the firm were very welcoming, taking the time to share their experiences with us and involving us in any work/ activities that were available. There was a good balance between formal presentations and workshops and hand on work within our allocated departments. Similarly, there were many social events organised for us with many opportunities to network and meet new people.
Great opportunities afforded from both professional and social standpoints, allowing vac schemers to get a feel for the firm, its culture and its operations. Events organised were both enjoyable and useful for all participants, helping to develop the skills required to succeed as a commercial lawyer.
